A phenomenological kinetic model has been developed for the prediction of non-isothermal reversible incomplete transformations in low-carbon hypoeutectoid steels. The theoretical basis of the proposed method has its origin in a possible extension of the traditional Austin-Rickett kinetic differential equation. To critically assess the applicability of the model, a number of experiments based on computer simulations have been performed to predict the austenite/ferrite proeutectoid transformation in the temperature range of A(e1) to A(e3) on plain carbon hypoeutectoid steels. A comparison with published experimental data has verified that the model developed is reasonable both quantitatively and with respect to well-established trends. Extension of the method of prediction appears promising when the non-isothermal reactions occurring during heat treatment (such as carbide precipitation and dissolution) can be assumed to proceed in a reversible manner.

Modeling the effect of key cathode design parameters on the electrochemical performance of a lithium-sulfur battery

A 1D model is developed for the Li-S cell to predict the effect of critical cathode design parameterscarbon-to-sulfur (C/S) and electrolyte-to-sulfur (E/S) ratios in the cathodeon the electrochemical performance. Cell voltage at 60% depth of discharge corresponding to the lower voltage plateau is used as a metric for calculating the cell performance. The cathode kinetics in the lower voltage plateau is defined with a single electrochemical reaction; thus, the model has a single apparent kinetic model parame...
MODELING SOLID-LIQUID EXTRACTION KINETICS OF TRANS-RESVERATROL AND TRANS-e-VINIFERIN FROM GRAPE CANE
Karacabey, Erkan; Bayındırlı, Levent A.; ARTIK, NEVZAT; Mazza, Giuseppe (Wiley, 2013-02-01)
Solidliquid extraction of resveratrol and viniferin from grape cane samples was described by using first-order kinetic model, Peleg's model, two-site kinetic model and modified Gompertz equation. Goodness of fits of the models were evaluated by comparing the adjusted determination coefficient and root mean square error and mean percentage error values. Although the two-site kinetic model with four parameters described the data better, Peleg's model, with only two parameters, could explain the data with a sl...
Measurement of Long-Range Near-Side Two-Particle Angular Correlations in pp Collisions at root s=13 TeV
Khachatryan, V.; et. al. (American Physical Society (APS), 2016-04-01)
Results on two-particle angular correlations for charged particles produced in pp collisions at a center-of- mass energy of 13 TeV are presented. The data were taken with the CMS detector at the LHC and correspond to an integrated luminosity of about 270 nb(-1). The correlations are studied over a broad range of pseudorapidity (vertical bar eta vertical bar 2.0), near-side (Delta phi approximate to 0) structure emerges in the two-particle Delta eta-Delta phi correlation functions. The magnitude of the corr...
Investigation of structural, electronic and anisotropic elastic properties of Ru-doped WB2 compound by increased valence electron concentration

First principles density functional theory (DFT) calculations have been used to investigate the structural, anisotropic elastic and electronic properties of ruthenium doped tungsten-diboride ternary compounds (W1-XRUxB2) for an increasing molar fraction of Ru atom from 0.1 to 0.9 by 0.1. Among the nine different compositions, W0.3Ru0.7B2 has been found as the most stable one due to the formation energy and band filling theory calculations. Moreover, the band structures and partial density of states (PDOS) h...
