Morphological exploration of the Turkish tea glass for engaging design solutions
Börekçi, Naz Ayşe Güzide Z.; Korkut, Fatma (null; 2020-08-11)
This paper discusses the pedagogical approach followed for an educational project focusing on engaging design solutions for tea glass sets in the Turkish context. The project aimed at incorporating local values, usage patterns and rituals to enhance user experience and user-product interaction, reinforce product value, meaning and longevity, and develop more engaging and sustainable solutions. The project was conducted in collaboration with a major glass manufacturing company and involved 28 junior year ind...
Nitrogen analogs of TEX – A computational study
Türker, Lemi (Elsevier BV, 2014-12)
TEX, a well-known nitramine type explosive, has been subjected to centric perturbations by replacing its etheric (acetal) oxygens with nitrogen atoms one by one. The structural features, stabilities and IR and UV-VIS spectra of new structures formed are investigated. For this purpose, density functional theory has been employed at the B3LYP/6-31G (d,p) and B3LYP/6-311G(d) levels. In general the calculations revealed that the oxygenenitrogen replacement resulted in more energetic but less sensitive struct...
Detail-Preserving Mesh Unfolding for Nonrigid Shape Retrieval
Sahillioğlu, Yusuf (2016-06-01)
We present a shape deformation algorithm that unfolds any given 3D shape into a canonical pose that is invariant to nonrigid transformations. Unlike classical approaches, such as least-squares multidimensional scaling, we preserve the geometric details of the input shape in the resulting shape, which in turn leads to a content-based nonrigid shape retrieval application with higher accuracy. Our optimization framework, fed with a triangular or a tetrahedral mesh in 3D, tries to move each vertex as far away f...
