Carbon fractionation and stable carbon isotopic fingerprint of road dusts near coal power plant with emphases on coal-related source apportionment
Liu, Yuan; Liu, Guijian; Yousaf, Balal; Zhang, Jiamei; Zhou, Li (2020-10-01)
Road dust from coal utilization is a significant source contributing to the generation of pollutants that can affect the health of people residing within close proximity to roadways. In this study, road dust samples were collected from different directions centered around a coal-fired power plant in Huainan. Black carbon (BC), soot, char, organic carbon (OC) and total carbon (TC), as well as the delta C-13 of samples, were determined. Compared to the reference locations which were distant from the power pla...
Carbon-based conductive materials enhance biomethane recovery from organic wastes: A review of the impacts on anaerobic treatment
Kutlar, Feride Ece; Tunca, Berivan; Yılmazel, Yasemin Dilşad (2022-03-01)
Amongst the most important sustainable waste management strategies, anaerobic biotechnology has had a central role over the past century in the management of high-pollution load sources, such as food, agricultural and municipal wastes. During anaerobic digestion (AD), valuable by-products such as digestate and biogas are produced. Biogas (mainly composed of methane) is generated through a series of reactions between bacteria and archaea. Enhancement of AD process with higher methane yield, accelerated metha...
Carbon Encapsulation and Encapsulated Si Particles for Energy Storage

Carbon encapsulation of elemental nanoparticles by spark discharge
Livan, Pelin; Öztürk, Tayfur (2018-10-01)
A study was carried out on the carbon encapsulation of a number of elements using a spark discharge generator. The study showed that elements W, V, Ti, and Si formed carbides which were encapsulated successfully by graphitic layers forming a sound core-shell structure. Copper formed a partially filled core-shell structure, attributed to its relatively low condensation temperature, where considerable shrinkage seemed to have occurred after the encapsulation. Mg could not be encapsulated in a core-shell form ...
Carbon dioxide injection field pilot in umurlu geothermal field, Turkey
Yücetaş, İsmet; Ergiçay, Nevzat; Akın, Serhat (null; 2018-01-01)
The Umurlu geothermal reservoir located in Buyuk Menderes Graben, Turkey initially contained around 2% by weight CO_2 dissolved in geothermal reservoir fluid. The produced CO_2 rate declined over one year of production time due to dilution of reservoir gas by degassed injectate. Since CO_2 has a considerable role on Umurlu reservoir performance and energy production, produced non-condensable gas (NCG) has been injected simultaneously with colder degassed injectate from an injection well for the last two mon...
