Physical theory hysteretic model for steel braces
Dicleli, Murat (American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), 2008-07-01)
This paper presents a simple yet efficient physical theory model that can be used to simulate the inelastic cyclic axial force-axial deformation and axial force-transverse deformation relationships of steel braces. The model consists of a brace idealized as a pin ended member with a plastic hinge located at its midlength. Input parameters of the model are based only on the properties of the brace. The model combines analytical formulations based on the nonlinear behavior of the brace with some semiempirical...
Physical Realization and Reflection Phase Characteristics of a Flexible High Impedance Surface
Durgun, Ahmet Cemal; Birtcher, Craig R. (2011-01-01)
This paper presents the fabrication and reflection phase measurements of a flexible high impedance surface (FHIS). The surface is fabricated by using DuPont pyralux polyimide as the substrate. Cyanoacrylate is used to adhere the samples of polyimide. The reflection phase response of the FHIS, which is curved in the form of a cylinder, is measured in the anechoic chamber and compared with that of the flat FHIS. As expected, reflection phase characteristics of the curved FHIS are polarization dependent and sl...
Physical Stability Analysis for Optical MEMS Phase Shifters
Ozer, Yigit; Kocaman, Serdar (2018-10-04)
Stability and switching performance of light force driven opto-mechanical phase shifters are examined and a formula determining the stability condition has been proposed for various structures. The analysis showed that cantilever beams are inadequate to generate 180 phase difference.
