Physical Realization and Reflection Phase Characteristics of a Flexible High Impedance Surface
Durgun, Ahmet Cemal; Birtcher, Craig R. (2011-01-01)
This paper presents the fabrication and reflection phase measurements of a flexible high impedance surface (FHIS). The surface is fabricated by using DuPont pyralux polyimide as the substrate. Cyanoacrylate is used to adhere the samples of polyimide. The reflection phase response of the FHIS, which is curved in the form of a cylinder, is measured in the anechoic chamber and compared with that of the flat FHIS. As expected, reflection phase characteristics of the curved FHIS are polarization dependent and sl...
Physical characterization of low-calorie chocolate formulations
Cikrikci, SEVİL; YUCEKUTLU, Mutlu; Mert, Behiç; Öztop, Halil Mecit (2017-03-01)
Development of a high-quality low-calorie chocolate needs the use of the most appropriate ingredients that could substitute sugar without negatively affecting several product properties. In this study, sucrose-reduced chocolates sweetened with sucralose and stevia by using bulking agents were investigated in relation to their rheological, textural and sensory attributes. Dark, milk and white chocolates with different amounts of sweeteners were formulated. The Casson model best fitted to the rheological data...
Physical properties of CdSe thin films produced by thermal evaporation and e-beam techniques
Huş, Şaban Mustafa; Parlak, Mehmet; Department of Physics (2006)
CdSe thin films were deposited by thermal evaporation and e-beam evaporation techniques on to well cleaned glass substrates. Low dose of boron have been implanted on a group of samples. EDAX and X-ray patterns revealed that almost stoichiometric polycrystalline films have been deposited in (002) preferred orientation. An analysis of optical measurements revealed a sharp increase in absorption coefficient below 700 nm and existence of a direct allowed transition. The calculated band gap was around 1.7 eV. Th...

Physical and mechanical properties of lightweight expanded clay aggregate concrete
Uysal, Orkun; Yaman, İsmail Özgür; Aktaş, Can Baran; Department of Civil Engineering (2023-1-27)
Expanded clay aggregate is an artificial type of aggregate manufactured from clay, and it has a porous nature, making it lighter than normal weight aggregates. When used in concrete, this porous nature is decisive in the physical and mechanical properties of concrete. A comprehensive experimental study was carried out on physical and mechanical properties like density, absorption capacity, porosity, compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, and modulus of elasticity. In this context, 13 different mi...
