An investigation on sample size distribution in electric discharge machining (EDM)
Darendeliler, Haluk (1991-01-01)
In this study, 150 experiments are conducted at different machining conditions to determine the sample size for workpiece removal rate and tool wear rate with a certain acceptable error in Electric Discharge Machining (EDM). Experimental workpiece removal rate and tool wear rate data are found to be distributed normally with a good fit. Statistically, it is shown that 150 experiments are large enough random sample to reflect the characteristics of the population. Two methods are proposed to find the sample ...

An investigation on compatibility properties of exterior finish coats for insulated walls in terms of water vapour pemeability and modulus ofelasticity
Örs, Kerime; Tavukçuoğlu, Ayşe; Department of Building Science in Architecture (2006)
The compatibility properties of some contemporary finish coats together with their complementary layers used in insulated exterior walls were examined in terms of water vapour permeability and modulus of elasticity. Basic physical and mechanical properties of some synthetic-, cement- and polymer-based external finish coats were analyzed in laboratory. Some additional samples, complementing the wall section, were also examined for their water vapour permeability. Results showed that the finish coats were hig...
An investigation on dynamic contact parameters in machining center spindle tool assemblies
Özşahin, Orkun; Özgüven, Hasan Nevzat; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2008)
In machining centers, with the increasing trends in high precision machining, chatter has become an important problem which results in poor surface finish and low material removal rate. Chatter can be avoided with stability diagrams which provide the stable regions in the machining process for the depth of cut and spindle speed combinations. In order to obtain stability diagrams, tool point frequency response function (FRF) of the system should be obtained. Throughout this study, contact parameters which ar...
