This paper presents a cloud based workflow and a software implementation that has a web-based GUI and a modular backend server which consists of an interface and many worker applications that are distributed over a network of computers or virtual machines. The implemented software is capable of three-dimensional modelling, mesh generation and analysis of large dam models using finite element and analysis. Visualization is performed with a web browser using the JavaScript library three.js which drives the WebGL engine. Mesh generation is handled by the GMSH mesh generation library and analysis is delegated to high performance finite element analysis engine, Panthalassa, and these operations take place at the backend which is implemented in Node.js. The feasibility of the suggested workflow is tested by generating an analysis model for a typical dam structure using a server setup consisting of several personal computers.

A Dynamic software product line for remote monitoring of computer systems
Erdil, Gülşah; Oğuztüzün, Mehmet Halit S.; Department of Computer Engineering (2019)
Remote Monitoring and Management systems are Information Technology (IT) software tools to organize and manage distributed client workstations from a central point. They are used by many large-scale technology companies that are willing to minimize their labor cost needed for running the IT infrastructure, collect and measure the data of clients within the organization, administrate them from a single point, in a reliable and secure way. Dynamic user profile deployment, dynamic reconfiguration of remote mon...
An intelligent fuzzy object-oriented database framework for video database applications
Özgür, Nezihe Burcu; Yazıcı, Adnan; Department of Computer Engineering (2007)
Video database applications call for flexible and powerful modeling and querying facilities, which require an integration or interaction between database and knowledge base technologies. It is also necessary for many real life video database applications to incorporate uncertainty, which naturally occurs due to the complex and subjective semantic content of video data. In this thesis study, firstly, a fuzzy conceptual data model is introduced to represent the semantic content of video data. UML (Unified Mod...
A gis domain framework utilizing jar libraries as components
Ödoğru, Ebru; Doğru, Ali Hikmet; Department of Computer Engineering (2005)
A Component Oriented Software Engineering (COSE) modeling environment is enhanced with the capability to import executable components and deliver applications through their composition. For this purpose, an interface layer that utilizes JAR libraries as components has been developed. Also, Domain Engineering process has been applied to Geographical Information Systems (GIS) domain and utilized towards converting the environment to a development framework. The interface layer imports JAR libraries into the C...
A Software Development Process Model for Cloud by Combining Traditional Approaches
Hacaloglu, Tuna; Eren, Pekin Erhan; Mishra, Deepti; Mishra, Alok (2015-10-30)
Even though cloud computing is a technological paradigm that has been adopted more and more in various domains, there are few studies investigating the software development lifecycle in cloud computing applications and there is still not a comprehensive software development process model developed for cloud computing yet. Due to the nature of cloud computing that is completely different from the traditional software development, there is a need of suggesting process models to perform the software developmen...
A certificate based authentication control model using smart mobile devices for ubiquitous computing environments
Çavdar, Davut; Eren, Pekin Erhan; Department of Information Systems (2011)
In this thesis work, a certificate based authentication model supported by mobile devices is provided for ubiquitous computing environments. The model primarily aims to create an infrastructure for controlling and regulating access requests through mobile devices to local resources and services. The model also allows users from different domains to use local resources and services within the scope of agreements between domains. In addition to conceptual description of the model, a real prototype implementat...
