A model to evaluate inventory costs in a remanufacturing environment

In this study we investigate possible benefits of remanufacturing in inventory-related costs. In order to examine the conditions on different system parameters that make the remanufacturing option cost attractive, the return ratio is considered as a decision variable. The production environment, where the manufacturing and remanufacturing require both common and separate operations, together with the supplier's operations for the new parts and useful lifetime of the product is modeled as a queuing network. A cost model is constructed under certain environmental assumptions. In this paper, the analysis of the model and computational study carried out are discussed.

A Semantic interoperability framework for reinforcing post market safety studies
Yüksel, Mustafa; Coşar, Ahmet; Department of Computer Engineering (2013)
Depending mostly on voluntarily sent spontaneous reports, pharmacovigilance studies are hampered by low quantity and quality of patient data. Enabling safety analysts to seamlessly access a wide range of Electronic Health Record (EHR) sources for collecting de-identified medical data sets of selected patient populations and tracing the reported incidents back to original EHRs can provide major improvements for such post market safety studies. The adoption of EHR systems and data exchange among these systems...
A Critical and methodological assessment of Zafer Toprak’s historical studies
Yılmaz, Tülay; Ergut, Ferdan; Department of History (2017)
The main goal of this study is to examine Zafer Toprak’s methodological approach to historical studies. Toprak’s work has influenced many areas of academic disciplines such as economic and social history writing. His studies focused especially on the modernization era and the Republican period of Turkey. He stands apart from historians who came before him in respect to his approach toward social and economic life of the late Ottoman era and the early Republican period. His studies on the period of CUP (Comm...
A Rasch measurement example in a grant application process
Çapa Aydın, Yeşim (2003-04-25)
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of a Rasch-based procedure to calibrate responses for funding applications. The data set included 112 proposals and 66 readers, who independently scored randomly assigned proposals using a scoring instrument. The data were analyzed using FACETS (Linacre, 1999). The analysis indicated that the instrument succeeded in separating proposals into four distinct strata of quality. The proposal quality measures were found to be trustworthy in terms of their ac...
A new approach to generating non-permutation schedules for flowshops with missing operations
Tabalu, Metin; Şen, Tayyar; Department of Industrial Engineering (2006)
In this study, non-permutation flowshops with missing operations are considered. The primary performance criterion is the total cycle time (i.e. makespan) and the secondary criterion is the total flowtime. In order to obtain the schedule with minimum makespan and minimum total flowtime, non-permutation schedules are being generated instead of permutation ones by permitting multiple jobs bypassing stages where misisng operations occur. A heuristic algorithm has been developed in order to generate non-permuta...
