An investigation of the relationship between organizational climate and professional drivers' driver behaviours
Öz, Bahar; Özkan, Türker (Elsevier BV, 2010-12-01)
The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between organizational climate and driver behaviours of professional drivers. The sample consisted of 230 male professional drivers. The participants completed a questionnaire including the Driver Behaviour Questionnaire (DBQ), Hofstede's Organizational Culture Scale, and a background information form. Results of the factor analysis of Hofstede's Organizational Culture Scale yielded two dimensions, which were named as "work orientation" and "employee...
An investigation of legal aspects of BIM in construction contracts
Kaya, Fatih; Akçamete Güngör, Aslı; Birgönül, Mustafa Talat (null; 2019-04-17)
Building Information Modeling (BIM) has been adopted worldwide in recent years as a novel way of working that enables efficiency in the construction industry. Lately, numerous countries made it compulsory to utilize BIM in public construction projects. Similarly, BIM became a contractual requirement in some public infrastructure and Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) projects in Turkey. However, in order to benefit from the advantages of BIM, some legal concerns such as intellectual property, liability, legal val...
An experimental investigation of insurance decisions in low probability and high loss risk situations
Özdemir, Özlem (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2014-04-01)
This experimental study investigates insurance decisions in low-probability, high-loss risk situations. Results indicate that subjects consider the probability of loss (loss size) when they make buying decisions (paying decisions). Most individuals are risk averse with no specific threshold probability.
An evaluation of the changing approaches to children's play spaces
Memik, N. Hayal; Kayasü, Serap; Urban Design in City and Regional Planning Department (2004)
In the nineteenth century, specialization and segregation of land uses necessitated to identify formal spaces for child2s play activity in the cities. In the late nineteenth century, 11traditional playgrounds22 were provided for children. However, formally designed, spatially segregated play space brought its own problems itself. Rapid changes in the urban pattern and dominance of cars in the urban environment restricted the safe accessibility of children to such play spaces by themselves. Also, 11tradition...
An investigation of optimum PV and wind energy system capacities for alternate short and long-term energy storage sizing methodologies
Al-Ghussain, Loiy; Taylan, Onur; Baker, Derek Keıth (Wiley, 2019-01-01)
The goal of this study is to find the optimal sizes of renewable energy systems (RES) based on photovoltaic (PV) and/or wind systems for three energy storage system (ESS) scenarios in a micro-grid; (1) with pumped hydro storage (PHS) as a long-term ESS, (2) with batteries as a short-term ESS, and (3) without ESS. The PV and wind sizes are optimally determined to accomplish the maximum annual RES fraction (F-RES) with electricity cost lower than or equal to the utility tariff. Furthermore, the effect of the ...
