All rights reserved. The flow structure inside a pressure swirl atomizer is investigated using high-speed shadowgraphy techniques and computational fluid dynamics tools. The hollow cone spray properties are detected using Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer. The experimental and numerical results are analyzed and compared. The aircore inside the pressure swirl atomizer is visualized at high temporal and spatial resolutions with the high-speed shadowgraphy system. The images captured are analyzed quantitatively with a developed image processing tool. The analyses reveal strong fluctuations of the aircore diameter. Three dimensional and two dimensional axisymmetric-swirl models are used for the numerical study performed with ANSYS-FLUENT software. Unsteady, two phase laminar flows are computed using the volume of fluid method. Three-dimensional and two-dimensional numerical simulations also predict strong oscillations of aircore diameter near the base of swirl chamber. In addition, a two-component Phase Doppler Particle Analyzer is employed to investigate the spray properties.

The discovery of the adobe materials' original compositions belonging to Ulucak Höyük Neolithic settlement has vital importance to better understand and sustain the historical adobe technology developed in Anatolia. A comprehensive research was done on the compositional and raw material properties of adobe materials belonging to th...
Effective connectivity modeling of human brain
Ulusoy, İlkay (null; 2017-11-25)
Three different connectivity models, namely structural (anatomical links), functional (statistical dependencies), and effective (causal interactions) have been introduced to examine the interactions between different regions of the brain. To understand the interactive systems, it is of fundamental importance to distinguish the sender from the receiver, and hence to be able to estimate the direction of the information flow. Effective connectivity methods estimate direct and/or indi...
Frame finite element model for nonlinear and vibration analysis of steel structures with Beam-Column and Column-Base Semi-Rigid Connections Kiriş-Kolon ve Kolon-Taban Yari-Rijit baǧlantili çelik yapilarin doǧrusal olmayan ve titreşim analizleri için çerçeve sonlu elemani modeli

All rights reserved. In this paper, a shear deformable force-based frame finite element with semi-rigid connections is derived for nonlinear analysis of steel structures. Distributed plasticity approach is defined along element length and section depth, and linear or non-linear semi-rigid connection behavior can be specified anywhere along elements without the necessity to define additional nodes and to increase the degrees of freedom of the structural system. The main scope of this study is to evaluate the structural response limits proposed by military specifications with real test conditions and also compare the effects of usage ANN predicted and military specification loads in design...
Spectroscopic ellipsometry study of Bi12TiO20 single crystals
Isik, M.; Hasanlı, Nızamı; Darvishov, N. H.; Bagiev, V. E. (2021-02-01)
Bi12XO20 (X: Si, Ge, Ti, etc.) ternary compounds have attracted attention especially due to their fascinating photorefractive characteristics. The present paper introduces the structural and optical characteristics of Bi12TiO20 single crystals grown by Czochralski method. X-ray diffraction pattern of the compound exhibited sharp and intensive peaks corresponding to parallel planes of cubic crystalline structure. The lattice constant of the cubic structure was determined as a = 1.0118 nm using a diffraction ...
