Changes in the physicochemical properties of high pressure treated rainbow trout
Erkan, Nuray; Alpas, Hami; Uretener, Gonca; Selcuk, Arif; Buzrul, Sencer (2010-09-01)
Changes in the physicochemical quality of rainbow trout's High pressure (HP)treated at 220, 250 and 330 MPa, 7, 15 and 25 degrees C for 5 and 10 min were investigated. HP-treated rainbow trout's showed significantly increased L* value relative to untreated rainbow trout's. Little changes in colour (a* value) were observed, compared to untreated rainbow trout's, which did not showed b* values. From tests of chemical properties, HP-treated rainbow trout's did not showed or showed significantly decreased thiob...
Changes in the chemical composition of an acidic soil treated with marble quarry and marble cutting wastes
TOZSİN, Gülşen; ÖZTAŞ, Taşkın; Arol, Ali İhsan; KALKAN, Ekrem (Elsevier BV, 2015-11-01)
Soil acidity greatly affects the availability of plant nutrients. The level of soil acidity can be adjusted by treating the soil with certain additives. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of marble quarry waste (MQW) and marble cutting waste (MCW) on the chemical composition and the acidity of a soil. Marble wastes at different rates were applied to an acid soil. Their effectiveness in neutralizing the soil pH was compared with that of agricultural lime. The changes in the chemical comp...
Changes in total protein profiles of barley cultivars in response to toxic boron concentration
Mahboobi, H; Yucel, M; Öktem, Hüseyin Avni (2000-01-01)
In this study, ten-day-old seedlings of barley {Hordeum vulgare L. cultivar Anadolu [boron (B)-tolerant] and Hamidiye (B-sensitive)} were used. Boron-treated plants were grown on H3BO3 solution (final concentration of 10 mM) for five days. Control plants received no B treatment during this period. Total protein patterns were obtained by analysis of total protein extract from root and leaf tissues of control and B-treated plants using two-dimensional gel electrophoresis followed by silver staining. The prote...

Changes in plant-herbivore network structure and robustness along land-use intensity gradients in grasslands and forests
Neff, Felix; Braendle, Martin; Ambarlı, Didem; Ammer, Christian; Bauhus, Juergen; Boch, Steffen; Hoelzel, Norbert; Klaus, Valentin H.; Kleinebecker, Till; Prati, Daniel; Schall, Peter; Schaefer, Deborah; Schulze, Ernst-Detlef; Seibold, Sebastian; Simons, Nadja K.; Weisser, Wolfgang W.; Pellissier, Loic; Gossner, Martin M. (2021-05-01)
Land-use intensification poses major threats to biodiversity, such as to insect herbivore communities. The stability of these communities depends on interactions linking herbivores and host plants. How interaction network structure begets robustness, and thus stability, in different ecosystems and how network structure and robustness are altered along land-use intensity gradients are unclear. We analyzed plant-herbivore networks based on literature-derived interactions and long-term sampling from 289 grassl...
