Reduced graphene oxide supported nickel-palladium alloy nanoparticles as a superior catalyst for the hydrogenation of alkenes and alkynes under ambient conditions
ÇETİNKAYA, Yasin; Metin, Onder; Balcı, Metin (2016-01-01)
Addressed herein is the superior catalytic performance of reduced graphene oxide supported Ni30Pd70 alloy nanoparticles (rGO-Ni30Pd70) for the direct hydrogenation of alkenes and alkynes to alkanes, which surpasses the commercial Pd/C catalyst both in activity and stability. A variety of cyclic or aromatic alkenes and alkynes (a total of 17 examples) were rapidly reduced to the corresponding alkanes with high yields (>99%) via the presented direct hydrogenation protocol under ambient conditions. Compared to...
Reduced Graphene Oxide - Molybdenum Disulfide Aerogel Nanocomposite Electrodes for Supercapacitors
Aydınlı, Alptekin; Doğan, Öznur; Koylan, Serkan; Bat, Erhan; Ünalan, Hüsnü Emrah (null; 2018-11-25)
Supercapacitors have attracted extensive attention for their high specific power and moderate energy densities. Nanoscale structure and high surface area are the two main requirements for a supercapacitor electrode with high performance. We report on the fabrication and electrochemical characterization of hybrid aerogel nanocomposite supercapacitor electrodes composed of reduced graphene oxide and molybdenum disulfide nanosheets on nickel foams. Graphene oxide was produced using Tour Method. Reduced graphen...

High Haze Nano Textured Aluminum doped Zinc Oxide withPlasmonic Silver Nanoparticles for Enhanced Optical Absorption and Photocurrent of a Si H thin film
Nasser, Hisham; Özkol, Engin; Bek, Alpan; Turan, Raşit (null; 2015-01-15)
We report on fabrication of plasmonic interfaces consisting of Ag nanoparticles on flat and textured Al:ZnO for use at the front surface of thin film solar cells to enhance light trapping and photo-conversion efficiencies. We show that outstandingly high transmittance haze is achieved from single step HCl surface textured Al:ZnO and demonstrate Ag dewetting on textured and flat Al:ZnO surfaces upon annealing at moderate temperatures. Optical response of these plasmonic interfaces clearly display plasmonic r...
Reducing saturated fat with oleogel/shortening blends in a baked product
Mert, Behiç (2016-05-15)
Short dough cookie structure, characterized by its aerated and tender texture, depends on the presence of solid fat during kneading. The objective of this study was to investigate the potential application of Candelilla wax (CDW) containing oleogels for partial replacement of the shortening in cookies. Oleogels were prepared with different amounts of CDW and blended with a commercial bakery shortening. After crystallizing the oleogel/shortening blends by using a pilot scale crystallization unit, the blends ...
