Identification of morphometric properties of basins located on western part of NAFZ
Sarp, Gülcan; Toprak, Vedat; Düzgün, H. Şebnem; Department of Geodetic and Geographical Information Technologies (2012)
This study aims to investigate tectonic activity levels and development stages of the tectonic and hydrologic basin areas located on western part of the main trace of the North Anatolian Fault Zone (NAFZ) using quantitative measurement techniques. The basins investigated are Bolu, Yeniçağa, Dörtdivan, Çerkes, Ilgaz and Tosya. The methodology includes application of six morphometric indices (Basin Shape, Hypsometric curve and Hypsometric Integral, Sinuosity of Mountain Fronts, Stream Length Gradient Index, V...
Identification of parameters of an induction motor from field solution
Ertan, Hulusi Bülent; Leblebicioğlu, Mehmet Kemal (2003-11-11)
This paper illustrates how the equivalent circuit parameters of an induction motor can be predicted from a 2D numerical field solution of the magnetic field. The approach presented requires a circuit-coupled 2D harmonic solution of the field (accounting for saturation) under no load and rated slip conditions. These solutions take only some minutes on a modern computer and are very suitable for the design office where quick solutions are much preferred as the effects of design changes can be quickly assessed...
Identification of electron acceptor properties of Penicillium camemberti used for effective treatment of chlorinated organic compounds
Taseli, BK; Gökçay, Celal Ferdi (2005-01-01)
Two methods described in this paper use respirometric monitoring of the accumulated oxygen uptake rate, following the addition of bleachery effluents to a reactor containing Penicillium camemberti and detection of inorganic chloride removal by a chloride electrode for electron acceptor identification. In the case of respirometric studies, adsorbable organic halogens (AOX) removal was retarded at high acetate concentrations and the metabolism shifted towards aerobic respiration. Contrary to this, aerobic res...
Identification of cathode materials for lithium batteries guided by first-principles calculations
Ceder, Gerbrand; Chiang, YetMing; Sadoway, Donald; Aydınol, Mehmet Kadri; Jang, YI; Huang, Biying (1998-04-16)
Lithium batteries have the highest energy density of all rechargeable batteries and are favoured in applications where low weight or small volume are desired - for example, laptop computers, cellular telephones and electric vehicles(1). One of the limitations of present commercial lithium batteries is the high cost of the LiCoO2 cathode material. Searches for a replacement material that, Like LiCoO2, intercalates lithium ions reversibly have covered most of the known lithium/transition-metal oxides, but the...
