A novel cyclodextrin homodimer with dual-mode substrate binding and esterase activity
Tastan, P; Akkaya, EU (2000-06-20)
A novel cyclodextrin homodimer with two beta-cyclodextrin units tethered from the primary side by a tris(2-aminoethyl)amine linker was found to be hydrolytically active. The hydrolysis of a ditopic activated carbonate ester was accelerated 150-fold and a Lineweaver-Burk plot showed a biphasic curve indicative of two different binding modes for the activated carbonate ester.
A Novel DAD Type and Folic Acid Conjugated Fluorescent Monomer as a Targeting Probe for Imaging of Folate Receptor Overexpressed Cells
Kanik, Fulya Ekiz; Ag, Didem; Seleci, Muharrem; Barlas, Firat Baris; Kesik, Melis; Hizalan, Gonul; Akpinar, Hava; TİMUR, SUNA; Toppare, Levent Kamil (2014-07-01)
We describe a modification and post-functionalization technique for a donor-acceptor-donor type monomer; 6-(4,7-bis(2,3-dihydrothieno[3,4-b][1,4]dioxin-5-yl)-2H-benzo[d][1,2,3]triazol-2-yl)hexan-1-amine. Folic acid was attached to the fluorescent structure. The conjugation was confirmed via NMR and Fourier transform infrared analyses. Cytotoxicity was investigated and the comparison of association of targeted monomeric structures in tumor cells was monitored via fluorescence microscopy. (C) 2014 American In...
A novel lanthanide complex with remarkable phosphodiester transesterification activity and DNA-conjugatable functionality
Baykal, U; Akkaya, Mahinur; Akkaya, EU (1999-10-01)
Encapsulated lanthanide complexes like the TCMC complexes are highly stable under physiological conditions. With the ultimate goal being an in vivo application of these complexes as a sequence-selective RNA/DNA cleaving agent (artificial RNAse/DNAse), kinetic stability of the complex would be a distinct advantage. We have synthesized a novel lanthanide complex with such stability and which displays high transesterification activity. The most important attribute of this compound is the nitrophenyl group whic...
A Novel Therapeutic Peptide Blocks SARS-CoV-2 Spike Protein Binding with Host Cell ACE2 Receptor
Rajpoot, Sajjan; Ohishi, Tomokazu; Kumar, Ashutosh; Pan, Qiuwei; Banerjee, Sreeparna; Zhang, Kam Y. J.; Baig, Mirza S. (2021-07-01)
Background and Objective Coronavirus disease 2019 is a novel disease caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV)-2 virus. It was first detected in December 2019 and has since been declared a pandemic causing millions of deaths worldwide. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop effective therapeutics against coronavirus disease 2019. A critical step in the crosstalk between the virus and the host cell is the binding of the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike...
