Adaptive Limit Margin Prediction and Control Cueing for Carefree Maneuvering of VTOL Aircraf
Yavrucuk, İlkay (null; 2002-10-01)
Adaptive longitudinal control of aircraft using synthetic jets
Muse, Jonathan A.; Kutay, Ali Türker; Calise, Anthony J. (2007-01-01)
This paper presents an adaptive control approach for controlling the longitudinal dynamics of a generic lifting surface using imbedded flow control actuators. Such actuators offer a unique opportunity for rapid maneuvering and gust rejection with low power consumption. The model's state is controlled over a broad range of angles of attack and model dynamic characteristics when the baseline flow is fully attached using bi-directional pitching moment that is effected by flow-controlled trapped vorticity conce...
Adaptive roll control of guided munitions
Öveç, Naz Tuğçe; Kutay, Ali Türker; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2016)
This thesis presents an adaptive roll control scheme for guided munitions. Guided munitions are air-to-air or air-to-surface weapons which have enhanced target hit capabilities with laser seekers or similar guidance utilities. The dynamic interferences in nonlinear regions of the flight envelope, leads the studies on control of guided munitions to search for adaptive solutions. The missile used in this study has no propulsive forces and do the adequate maneuvers commanded by the guidance algorithm with its ...
Adaptive controller applications for rotary wing aircraft models of varying simulation fidelity
Tarımcı, Onur; Yavrucuk, İlkay; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2009)
This thesis concerns the design, analysis and testing of adaptive controllers for rotary wing aircraft, in particular helicopters. A non-linear helicopter model is developed and validated by trim and dynamic response analyses. A inner-outer loop cascade controller is designed with a trajectory generator in the most outer layer and an adaptive neural network controller is implemented to the inner loop. Controller is then challenged to carry out complex maneuvers autonomously under turbulence. Finally, the ce...
Adaptive beam control of dual beam phased array antenna system
Şemşir, Emine Zeynep; Altunkan, Hızal; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2009)
In this study, the Dual Beam Phased Array Antenna System designed for COST260* project is upgraded to have the abilities of beam steering, tracking and direction finding by providing the necessary computer codes using C++ Programming Language. The functions of new prototype are tested to verify the operation. *COST260 project was an adaptive phased array receiving antenna system for satellite communication, which was operating at 11.49-11.678 GHz band.
