On the errors arising in surface integral equations due to the discretization of the identity operatort
Ergül, Özgür Salih (2009-06-05)
Surface integral equations (SIEs) are commonly used to formulate scattering and radiation problems involving three-dimensional metallic and homogeneous dielectric objects with arbitrary shapes. For numerical solutions, equivalent electric and/or magnetic currents defined on surfaces are discretized and expanded in a series of basis functions. Then, the boundary conditions are tested on surfaces via a set of testing functions. Solutions of the resulting dense matrix equations provide the expansion coefficien...

On the Unsteady Behavior of the Flow Around NACA 0012 Airfoil with Steady External Conditions at Re=1000
Kurtuluş, Dilek Funda (2015-09-01)
Even for the stationary airfoils, due to the boundary and shear layer interactions of upper and lower surface of the airfoils, alternating vortex patterns form and the flow becomes time dependent. In the current study, the unsteady behavior of the flow around a symmetric airfoil is considered as incidence angle increases. The flow patterns are presented for wide range of angles of attack values. The vortex pattern generated is analyzed numerically for different angles of attack at Re=1000 around NACA 0012 a...
On the correlation of the supremum and the infimum and of maximum gain and maximum loss of Brownian motion with drift
Vardar Acar, Ceren; Szekely, Gabor J. (Elsevier BV, 2013-08-15)
Investors are naturally interested in the supremum and the infimum of stock prices, also in the maximum gain and the maximum loss over a time period. To shed light on these relatively complicated aspects of sample paths, we consider Brownian motion with and without drift. We provide explicit calculations of the correlation between the supremum and the infimum of Brownian motion with drift. We establish a number of results concerning the distributions of maximum gain and maximum loss. We present simulation s...
On the wake pattern of symmetric airfoils for different incidence angles at Re=1000
Kurtuluş, Dilek Funda (SAGE Publications, 2016-06-01)
In the current study, numerical simulations are performed in order to investigate effects of incidence angle and airfoil thickness on alternating vortex pattern of symmetric airfoils at Re = 1000. This alternating vortex pattern is found to be significantly varying in shape as the incidence angle increases. The results are obtained with 1 degrees increment from 0 degrees to 41 degrees and then with 10 degrees increment from 40 degrees until 180 degrees. The instantaneous and mean vortex patterns are investi...
