Review of post-collisional volcanism in the Central Anatolian Volcanic Province (Turkey), with special reference to the Tepekoy Volcanic Complex
KUŞCU, GONCA; Geneli, Fatma (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2010-04-01)
Neogene-Quaternary post-collisional volcanism in Central Anatolian Volcanic Province (CAVP) is mainly characterized by calc-alkaline andesites-dacites, with subordinate tholeiitic-transitional-mildly alkaline basaltic volcanism of the monogenetic cones. Tepekoy Volcanic Complex (TVC) in Nigde area consists of base surge deposits, and medium to high-K andesitic-dacitic lava flows and basaltic andesitic flows associated with monogenetic cones. Tepekoy lava flows petrographically exhibit disequilibrium texture...

Review of the distribution of large sharks in the seas of Turkey (Eastern Mediterranean)
Kabasakal, Hakan; Karhan, Selahattin Unsal; Sakinan, Serdar (2017-01-01)
Observations carried out in the seas of Turkey between 1990 and August 2015, allowed to record in the area 392 large sharks including 10 families, 13 genera and 18 species. Hexanchus griseus was the predominant species, comprising 169 specimens and 43.2% of total captures. Analyses on the periodicity of the captures of large sharks from the seas of Turkey during the last 25 years revealed an increasing trend in annual catches since 1990, which was statistically significant (p < 0.001). Based on catch record...
Review of magnesium-based biomaterials and their applications
Sezer, Nurettin; Evis, Zafer; Kayhan, Said Murat; Tahmasebifar, Aydin; Koc, Muammer (2018-03-01)
In biomedical applications, the conventionally used metallic materials, including stainless steel, Co-based alloys and Ti alloys, often times exhibit unsatisfactory results such as stress shielding and metal ion releases. Secondary surgical operation(s) usually become inevitable to prevent long term exposure of body with the toxic implant contents. The metallic biomaterials are being revolutionized with the development of biodegradable materials including several metals, alloys, and metallic glasses. As suc...
Review of Trend Tests for Detection of Wear Out Period for Mining Machineries
Gölbaşı, Onur; Demirel, Nuray (2015-04-17)
Machinery systems are extensively utilized in all mining stages from beginning to end of ore production. They are capital-intensive systems and substantial amount of money is spent annually to keep their functionalities in desired levels. Therefore, implementation of effective maintenance strategy has a vital importance to prevent unexpected breakdowns due to failures and to minimize operational cost. These maintenance strategies can be constituted effectively regarding functional and structural dependencie...
