Hydrophobicity of chalcopyrite with dithiophosphate and dithiophosphinate in electrochemically controlled condition
Guler, T; Hicyilmaz, C (Elsevier BV, 2004-03-18)
The degree of hydrophobicity of chalcopyrite was determined by contact angle measurements on polished chalcopyrite surface in electrochemically controlled conditions. Results have shown that the increase in solution pH adversely affect hydrophobicity due to heavy surface oxidation. Maximum contact angles were measured at moderately oxidizing potentials, which proposed that slight oxidation is necessary for a hydrophobic chalcopyrite surface. Sodium diisobutyl dithiophosphinate (DTPI) displayed better result...
Hydroxylapatite-zirconia composites: Thermal stability of phases and sinterability as related to the CaO-ZrO(2)phase diagram
Evis, Zafer; Doremus, RH (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2005-03-01)
Composites of hydroxylapatite ( HA) with pure zirconia, and 3 and 8% Y2O3 in zirconia, were pressure-less sintered at temperatures from 900 to 1300 degrees C, and hot-pressed at 1200 degrees C in argon gas atmosphere for 1 h. The reactions and transformations of phases were monitored with X-ray diffraction and thermal analysis. At sintering temperatures higher than 1000 degrees C, calcium from HA diffused into the zirconia phase, and the HA phase decomposed to tri-calcium phosphate (TCP). Above about 1200 d...
Hydrogels in Regenerative Medicine
Hasırcı, Nesrin; Kömez, Aylin; Bahçecioğlu, Gökhan; Hasırcı, Vasıf Nejat (World Scientific Publishing, 2016-04-01)
Hydrogels are soft, jelly-like, polymeric networks with very high water retention capacity. They are made from natural materials or synthetic polymers. They are very important for the biomedical field because of the similarity between their mechanical and chemical properties and that of the extracellular medium, the microenvironment of a cell. They can be used in cell loaded form. High water content of the hydrogels is very suitable even without the cells in mimicking the hydrated tissues or viscous bodily ...

Hydrothermal synthesis of TiO₂ nanostructures for photocatalitic and photovoltaic applications
Erdoğan, Nursev; Öztürk, Abdullah; Park, Jongee; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2017)
Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanostructures with different crystal structures and various morphologies were synthesized by hydrothermal process to utilize them in photocatalytic and photovoltaic applications. The investigations were conducted in three different sets of systematic experimental studies. The first set of experiments was based on the synthesis of TiO2 nanostructures in the presence of strong sodium hydroxide (NaOH) catalyzer. Temperature and molarity of NaOH were kept constant while hydrothermal rea...
