Anisotropic solutions for generalised holography
Devecioğlu, Deniz Olgu; Sarıoğlu, Bahtiyar Özgür; Department of Physics (2016)
We first find that the four dimensional cosmological Einstein-Yang-Mills theory with $SU(2)$ gauge group admits Lifshitz spacetime as a base solution for the dynamical exponent $z > 1$. Motivated by this, we next demonstrate numerically that the field equations admit black hole solutions which behave regularly on the horizon and at spatial infinity for different horizon topologies. In the second part, using an off-shell Killing spinor analysis we perform a systematic investigation of the supersymmetric back...
On the arithmetic of fibered surfaces
Kaba, Mustafa Devrim; Önsiper, Mustafa Hurşit; Department of Mathematics (2011)
In the first three chapters of this thesis we study two conjectures relating arithmetic with geometry, namely Tate and Lang’s conjectures, for a certain class of algebraic surfaces. The surfaces we are interested in are assumed to be defined over a number field, have irregularity two and admit a genus two fibration over an elliptic curve. In the final chapter of the thesis we prove the isomorphism of the Picard motives of an arbitrary variety and its Albanese variety.
Effects of fiber content and extrusion conditions on quality of pasta
Solta Civelek, Sezil; Şahin, Serpil; Department of Food Engineering (2019)
Both characteristics of raw material and processing conditions play an important role in the final quality of pasta. Durum wheat semolina is the main ingredient for pasta production due to its yellow-amber color and strong gluten proteins. Pasta can be enriched with other cereals, pseudo-cereals, whole wheat flours or pure fibers to enhance the product nutritionally. However, partial substitution of durum wheat flour with these raw materials has an adverse effect on product quality. The aim of this study wa...
Anchorage strength of fiber reinforced polymers
Çamlı, Ümit Serdar; Binici, Barış; Department of Civil Engineering (2005)
Fiber reinforced polymers (FRPs) have gained popularity in upgrade projects for reinforced concrete structural elements within the last decade because of its ease of application and high strength-to-weight ratio. In the design of an effective retrofitting solution by means of an FRP system, the anchorage capacity has an important role. This study presents the results of an experimental program conducted to determine the strength of carbon fiber reinforced polymers (CFRPs) bonded to concrete prisms or hollow...
