Fast pyrolysis of Turkish hazelnut shell by using novel wire mesh reactor
Kazanç Özerinç, Feyza; Gürel, Kaan (null; 2018-04-27)
The present paper studies fast pyrolysis of Turkish hazelnut shell under various conditions in a novel wire mesh reactor (WMR). Particular emphasis was given to understand volatile yield at high heating rates at elevated temperatures. Volatile yields from fast pyrolysis (~3000 ºC/s) showed higher values from both as received (80 wt.%) and dried fuels (85 wt.%) than proximate analysis (PA) (75 wt. %) done at low heating rates (20 ºC/min). Brunauer–Emmitt–Teller (BET) surface analysis was carried out to deter...

In this report, a passive microfluidic chip design was developed for fast and sensitive fluorometric determination of Escherichia coli (E. coli) based on sandwich immunoassay. Initially, magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) and chitosan modified mercaptopropionic acid capped cadmium telluride (CdTe) quantum dots (QDs) were functionalized with E.coli specific antibody to form a sandwich immunoassay with the E. coli. The magnetic separation and preconcentration of the E.coli from the sample solution was performed in...

Herein we report the development of solid-phase microextraction (SPME) devices designed to perform fast extraction/enrichment of target analytes present in small volumes of complex matrices (i.e. V <= 10 mu L). Micro-sampling was performed with the use of etched metal tips coated with a thin layer of biocompatible nano-structured polypyrrole (PPy), or by using coated blade spray (CBS) devices. These devices can be coupled either to liquid chromatography (LC), or directly to mass spectrometry (MS) via dedica...
Fast simulation of muons produced at the SHiP experiment using Generative Adversarial Networks
Ahdida, C.; et. al. (2019-11-01)
This paper presents a fast approach to simulating muons produced in interactions of the SPS proton beams with the target of the SHiP experiment. The SHIP experiment will be able to search for new long-lived particles produced in a 400 GeV/c SPS proton beam dump and which travel distances between fifty metres and tens of kilometers. The SHiP detector needs to operate under ultra-low background conditions and requires large simulated samples of muon induced background processes. Through the use of Generative ...
