BATCH ORDERING PROBLEM IN MULTI ITEM TWO ECHELON SPARE PARTS INVENTORY CONTROL SYSTEMS Engin Topan, Zeynep Pelin Bayindir, Tarkan Tan In this study we deal with a multi-item two-echelon spare parts inventory control system in which the central warehouse operates with reorder point/order quantity (Q,R) policy whereas local warehouses implements one-for-one replenishment. In this environment we study the batch ordering problem of the corresponding system. There are two common approaches in determining policy parameters. One approach is the sequential approach in which the order sizes are determined at first, in most cases by EOQ-rule, then given the order sizes, the reorder level for the central warehouse and the basestock levels for the local warehouses are determined. The other approach is the simultaneous approach in which all the control parameters of the system including the order size are optimized simultaneously. The former one is suboptimal, but due to its simplicity, very common in the spare parts business. One aim of this study is to test the performances of the sequential approach and the simultaneous approach in a multi-item setting. In order to accomplish this goal we need an exact solution procedure for the problem. The second aim of this study is to propose an exact solution procedure for the problem. The procedure is based on using the Lagrangean dual bound in a branch and bound procedure. Later this solution procedure is used to test the performances of the sequential approach and the simultaneous approach. By doing so, we hope to evaluate the value of “optimal solution” of batch ordering problem in a multi item two-echelon distribution system

Multi-Item Two-Echelon Spare Parts Inventory Control Problem with Batch Ordering in the Central Warehouse
Topan, Engin; Bayındır, Zeynep Pelin; Tan, Tarkan; Department of Industrial Engineering (2010)
In this dissertation, we consider a multi-item two-echelon inventory distribution system in which the central warehouse operates with (Q, R) policy, and each local warehouse implements base-stock policy. The objective is to find the policy parameters minimizing the relevant system-wide costs subject to an aggregate mean response time constraint at each facility. We first propose an exact solution procedure based on a branch-and-price algorithm to find the relevant policy parameters of the system considered....
Pooling through lateral transshipments in service parts systems
Satir, Benhur; Savaşaneril Tüfekci, Seçil; Serin, Yaşar Yasemin (2012-07-16)
We study the inventory management problem of a service center operating in a decentralized service parts network. The service centers collaborate through inventory and service pooling, and through sharing information on the inventory status. Upon demand arrival, a service center may request a part from the other center, in which case a payment is made. Under this competitive and collaborative environment, we first characterize the optimal operating policy of an individual service center. Through computation...
Multi-Item Two-Echelon Spare Parts Inventory Control with Batch Ordering in the Central Warehouse
Tan, Tarkan; Bayındır, Zeynep Pelin; Topan, Engin (null; 2009-10-24)
We consider a multi-item two-echelon inventory system in which the central warehouse operates under a (Q,R) policy and the local warehouses implement basestock policy. The objective is to find the policy parameters that minimize the system-wide inventory holding and ordering costs subject to an aggregate mean response time constraint at each facility. We propose different heuristics based on Lagrangean relaxation and sequential determination of policy parameters, and discuss their performances.
Cyclic behavior of unidirectional and cross-ply titanium matrix composites
Neu, R.W.; Çöker, Demirkan; Nicholas, T. (1996-01-01)
Relatively simple and efficient micromechanical models are used to obtain the uniaxial response of SCS-6/Timetal 21S with [0](4) and [0/90](s) laminates when subjected to isothermal and thermomechanical fatigue (TMF) loadings. Features of the modeling that are required to obtain the accurate deformation behavior for this class of materials under these loadings are highlighted. To this end, a comparison is made between the concentric cylinder model and the uniaxial stress model for representing the [0] lamin...
Reference-plane-invariant waveguide method for electromagnetic characterization of bi-axial bianisotropic metamaterials
HASAR, UĞUR CEM; Yildiz, Gul; BUTE, MUSA; Muratoğlu, Abdurrahim (2018-11-01)
In this paper, we investigate a reference-plane invariant (RPI) method for electromagnetic property extraction of bi-axial bianisotropic metamaterial (MM) slabs. In order to obtain unique properties, we applied the frequency varying technique in order to determine the location of the slab within its cell. For validation of the proposed method, we first simulated and then measured scattering parameters of a MM slab constructed by split-ring-resonators, next extracted its electromagnetic properties, and final...
