Multi scale modeling of dual phase steels with integrated computational materials engineering framework
Bakkalbaşı, Doğucan; Şimşir, Caner; Music, Omer; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2022-11-21)
In this thesis, process-chain simulation of of Dual-Phase (DP) steels (DP600, DP800) with different chemical compositions and manufacturing histories is performed, in line with Integrated Computational Materials Engineering (ICME) principles. To do this, the required material data is acquired by multi-scale modelling, which enables bi-directional link between the material production processes with the manufacturing processes. The thesis consists of 2 important stages, each of which includes innovation...
Optimizing Information Freshness in Random Access Channels
Yavaşcan, Orhan Tahir; Uysal, Elif; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2022-8-31)
In this work, a number of transmission strategies aimed at optimizing information freshness in random access channels are developed and studied. Threshold-ALOHA, an age-aware modification of slotted ALOHA, suggests a fixed age threshold on the terminals before they can become active and attempt transmissions with a constant probability. Threshold ALOHA nearly halves the average Age of Information (AoI) whilst the loss of throughput compared to slotted ALOHA is less than one percent. Mumista, multiple mini s...
INVESTIGATION OF EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATORS' AUDIOVISUAL MEDIA PRODUCT PREFERENCES AND PRIORITIES FOR CHILDREN'S SCREEN VIEWING
İnan, Rahime; Şahin, Volkan; Department of Early Childhood Education (2021-5)
The current study aims to understand the overall use of children‟s media in early childhood education settings with the underlying questions of how audio-visual media products are being utilized in the early childhood classrooms in Turkish schools and how screen viewing periods are mediated during school hours. Specifically, what children watch in classroom; how often and how long they do; where they do; and what type of electronic media devices educators use to watch the content at school are questioned. I...
Accuracy analyses of numeric weather prediction-based stratiform and convective precipitation shortterm forecasts over Turkey
Aydın, Beril; Yücel, İsmail; Yılmaz, Mustafa Tuğrul; Department of Civil Engineering (2023-1)
This study was carried out to determine whether convective and stratiform (large-scale) precipitation datasets obtained from 5 model forecast-based products would be an adequate alternative for regions where station-based observation networks are sparse. Verification of precipitation types (convective or stratified) from numerical weather forecast (NWP) models (ALARO, CFS, ECMWF HRES, GFS, WRF) is done using station-based observations. Statistical assessments between these precipitation types in different t...
COMPREHENSIVE META ANALYSIS OF WORLDWIDE LANDFILL LEACHATE
Ergene Şentürk, Didar; Sanin, Faika Dilek; Aksoy, Ayşegül; Department of Environmental Engineering (2022-6-28)
Landfill leachate data compiled from 220 different landfills from 46 countries in Europe, Middle East, Asia, Africa, and America were analysed by multivariate statistical approach for the assessment of main properties as well as variation of leachate characteristics with respect to landfill age, climate, and development status. Results showed that inorganic content of leachate has the highest correlations with each other as well as accounting for the majority of variation in leachate. Changes in leachate co...
