The redox behaviour of square-planar trans-dicyanodihalogenoaurate(III) complexes in acetonitrile
Hacaloğlu, Jale; Akbulut, Ural (1984-12-01)
The redox behaviour of trans-[NBun4][Au(CN)2X2](X = Cl, Br, or I) and [NBun4][Au(CN)2] have been investigated in acetonitrile solution. The effect of σ and π donor halides and π acceptor cyanide on the redox behaviour have also been studied. Intermediates are observed in the redox reactions of these systems.
The glass transition behaviour and thermodynamic properties of amorphous polystyrene
Aras, Leyla; Richardson, Maxwell J. (Elsevier BV, 1989-12)
The effect of molecular weight (MW) and thermal history on the heat capacity (cp) of amorphous polystyrene over the temperature range from 200–440 K has been measured using differential scanning calorimetry (d.s.c.) General equations are given that show the influence of MW on cp in both the glassy and liquid states. An enthalpic definition of the glass temperature reflects changes in the glass structure, due to thermal history, that are not found using conventional d.s.c. constructions. Thermodynamic and st...
THE EFFECT OF ALKYL-GROUPS ON CARBANION STABILITY .1. INTERACTION OF SMALL RINGS WITH ADJACENT CARBANION CENTERS
BALCIOGLU, N; SEVIN, F; EVIN, O; Peynircioğlu, Nihad Bekir (1992-02-01)
Relative kinetic acidity measurements have shown that the cyclobutyl group has the ability to stabilize an adjacent carbanion center similar to vinyl and cyclopropyl groups, although to a lesser extent. The results of semiempirical calculations (MNDO) covering all the mentioned substituents, including the isopropyl group correlate well with the experimentally determined relative kinetic acidities.
The effect of neighbouring groups on 1,2-cycloaddition reactions of ketenes to substituted olefins.

The effects of alkali promoters on the dynamics of hydrogen chemisorption and syngas reaction kinetics on Ru/SiO2 surfaces
Üner, Deniz; Pruski, M; King, TS (1997-01-01)
The dynamics of chemisorbed hydrogen on unpromoted and promoted Ru/SiO2 catalysts was studied by means of single pulse and selective excitation H-1 NMR spectroscopy. Dynamic NMR studies indicated a reduced mobility of hydrogen in the presence of alkali promoters (Na and K) at high loadings (65 atomic %). On unpromoted Ru/SiO2 catalysts, the line due to hydrogen-on-metal was homogeneously broadened at pressures above 0.5 Torr H-2. Similar behavior was observed on promoted Ru/SiO2 catalyst with 66 atomic % K....
