Optimization of a microbolometer pixel for operation in the sub-1 THz region
Demirörs, Oytun; Atik, Bahar; Dirican, Emrah; Altan, Hakan; Esentürk, Okan; Ylldlrlm, Mustafa; Akın, Tayfun (2021-01-01)
Imaging in the Terahertz (THz) region has drawn attention in recent years, but the nature of the THz frequency regime causes some drawbacks in imaging such as long wavelength, high cost, and low emission levels at room temperature. Because of the high atmospheric absorption of THz waves, fabrication of a microbolometer pixel that works in the sub-1 THz frequency regime is necessary. Large pixel pitches due to longer wavelengths and the resulting higher thermal mass pose a difficult challenge. Due to those l...
Optimization of an integrated bombardment and agrobacterium infiltration based transformation system for lentil
Çelikkol, Ufuk; Öktem, Hüseyin Avni; Küsmenoğlu, İsmail; Department of Biotechnology (2002)
In this study, the effect of microwounding by particle bombardment and the coupling of vacuum infiltration to Agrobacteritim-mediated transformation, on the efficiency of transient GUS expression of cotyledonary node tissues were investigated. In each experimental set with any Agrobacterium/pia&mid couple, five different treatments were applied to compare the efficiency of integrated bombardment-infiltration system to reference treatments. Throughout the study also the efficiencies of four strains, LBA4404,...

Optimization of energy production from an underground gas storage reservoir
Sınayuç, Çağlar; Kucukeksi, MS (2000-06-01)
The aim of this study is to supply the variable gas demand from an underground gas storage reservoir during heating season by an optimal selection of production rates. Because of the interaction of many influences, parameters, and previous decisions, determination of production rates becomes so involved that the manager can no longer use intuitive judgment. The objective, therefore, is to reach an optimum decision by applying the linear programming method in problem optimization.
