Effect of Tomato Pulp Addition on the Functional Properties of Extrudates
Tonyalı, Bade; Cagla, Caltinoglu; Şensoy, İlkay (null; 2013-05-20)
Effect of addition of tomato pulp on the physical parameters and the effect of extrusion on functional properties of the extrudates were investigated. Corn grits with and without tomato pulp at 30% moisture were extruded. Sectional expansion index, color and sensory analysis were conducted. Tomato pulp addition caused sligt increase in the expansion index at two shear rate and caused increase in the redness and some decrease in yellowness. Sensory analysis indicated no significant difference between the pul...

Effect of seeding on the properties of mfi type zeolite membranes
Dinçer, Eser; Kalıpçılar, Halil; Department of Chemical Engineering (2005)
The effect of seeding on the properties of alumina supported MFI membranes was investigated in this study. Membranes were synthesized from clear solutions with a molar batch composition of TPAOH:9.80SiO2:0.025NaOH:0.019Al2O3: 602.27H2O:39.16C2H5OH on bare and seeded alumina supports at 130oC in autoclaves. The amount of seed on the support surface was changed between 0.6 mg/cm2 and 6.9 mg/cm2 by vacuum seeding method, which provided uniform and closely packed seed layers. Membranes were characterized by XRD...
EFFECT OF THE LACTOPEROXIDASE SYSTEM ON THE ACTIVITY OF STARTER CULTURES FOR YOGURT PRODUCTION
Basaga, H.; Dik, Tunay (VOLKSWIRTSCHAFTLICHER VERLAG, 1994)
The LP system in raw milk was activated by the addition of equimolar concentrations (0.25 mM) of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and thiocyanate (SCN) as KSCN and utilizing the inherent milk lactoperoxidase (LP). H2O2 and SCN- concentrations were determined during the experiments by using spectrophotometric methods and found to decrease to 1.5 mug/ml and 0.4 mug/ml respectively in 5 h. A relatively small amount of H2O2 was produced in the untreated milk which then was found to decrease. The activated sample, at th...
Effect of starvation on the adhesive properties of xenobiotic degrading bacteria
Sanin, SL; Sanin, Faika Dilek; Bryers, JD (Elsevier BV, 2003-01-31)
The purpose of this study was to observe the effects of different starvation conditions on the surface characteristics and adhesive properties of bacteria. Three pure culture xenobiotic degrading bacteria were used in this study: Pseudomonas sp. strain A, Pseudomonas sp. strain D and Rhodococcus corallinus strain 11. These microorganisms were selected for to their ability to degrade cyanuric acid, which is a derivative of s-Triazine, a common herbicide. These microorganisms were separately starved for carbo...
