Effect of ionic strength on the complexation of polyethyleneimine (PEI) with Cd2+ and Ni2+ in polymer enhanced ultrafiltration (PEUF)

Impact of fertilizer usage on phosphorus loads to Lake Uluabat
BULUT, Elif; Aksoy, Ayşegül (Elsevier BV, 2008-06-25)
This work investigated the role of fertilizer application rate on phosphorus (P) transport and loading to Lake Uluabat in Turkey. For this purpose ArcView Interface of Soil and Water Assessment Tool 2000 (AVSWAT) was used. Results showed that when the fertilizer amount applied to agricultural lands was doubled, the P load to Lake Uluabat increased by 32%. P transported to Lake Uluabat declined by about 6, 10 and 16%, when the fertilizer usage at the agricultural fields were decreased by 20, 30 and 50%, resp...
Effect of Magnesium and Osteoblast Cell Presence on Hydroxyapatite Formation on (Ti,Mg)N Thin Film Coatings
Onder, Sakip; Calikoglu-Koyuncu, Ayse Ceren; Kose, Gamze Torun; Kazmanli, Kursat; Kök, Fatma Neşe; Urgen, Mustafa (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2017-07-01)
TiN and (Ti,Mg)N thin film coatings were deposited on Ti substrates by an arc-physical vapor deposition technique. The effect of cell presence on hydroxyapatite (HA) formation was investigated using surfaces with four different Mg contents (0, 8.1, 11.31, and 28.49 at.%). Accelerated corrosion above 10 at.% Mg had a negative effect on the performance in terms of both cell proliferation and mineralization. In the absence of cells, Mg-free TiN coatings and low-Mg (8.1 at.%)-doped (Ti,Mg)N surfaces led to an e...
Effect of Soda Concentration on the Morphology of MFI-Type Zeolite Membranes
Soydas, Belma; Culfaz, Ali; Kalıpçılar, Halil (Informa UK Limited, 2009-01-01)
MFI-type zeolite membranes were hydrothermally synthesized as a thin layer on macroporous -alumina discs coated with 1m MFI-type seed crystals as seed. The effect of soda (Na2O) concentration on the morphology of the membranes was investigated. Soda concentration, and thus the hydroxyl ion concentration, was changed between 0.25 and 6.5 mol/mol gel. At low soda concentrations the crystals forming the layer exhibited mostly (h0h)/c-axis orientation, but at high soda concentrations a membrane layer formed fro...
EFFECT OF DIFFUSION RESISTANCES ON SELECTIVITY IN BIDISPERSED POROUS CATALYSTS
ILHAN, M; ORBEY, N; Doğu, Timur (Informa UK Limited, 1991-01-01)
Particle-pellet approach was used for the analysis of selectivity in a consecutive reaction scheme. It was illustrated that the ratio of macro and micropore diffusion resistance (α) has a significant effect on selectivity especially for intermediate values of particle Thiele modulus. Increase of this ratio and increase of particle Thiele modulus yield lower selectivities for the intermediate product.
