The steady magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow together with its heat transfer between parallel plates is considered in which the electrically conducting fluid has temperature dependent properties such as viscosity, thermal and electrical conductivity. The fluid is driven by a constant pressure gradient, and a uniform external transverse magnetic field is applied perpendicular to the plates. The effects of viscous and Joule dissipations are considered in the energy equation, and the fluid is assumed to be slipping in the vicinity of the plates. The effects of the magnetic field, the hydrodynamic slip, and convective thermal boundary conditions on the flow and heat transfer are investigated as well as the temperature dependent parameters. The Chebyshev spectral collocation method which is easy to implement is presented for the approximation of the solutions to the governing equations. The velocity and the temperature of the fluid are obtained with a cheap computational expense.

A two-energy equation model for dynamic heat and mass transfer in an adsorbent bed using silica gel/water pair
Solmus, Ismail; Rees, D. Andrew S.; Yamali, Cemil; Baker, Derek Keıth (2012-09-01)
In this study, the influence of the adsorbent bed dimensions, convective heat transfer coefficient between the cooling fluid and adsorbent bed and the thermal conductivity of the solid adsorbent material on the transient distributions of the solid and gas phase temperature difference, differences in the adsorbate concentration predicted by the instantaneous equilibrium and linear driving force (LDF) models, solid phase temperature, gas pressure and adsorbate concentration inside the adsorbent bed of a solid...
A pseudospectral analysis of laminar natural convection and heat transfer between two inclined parallel plates
Kasapoğlu, Serkan; Tarı, İlker; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2005)
Three dimensional laminar natural convection flow of and heat transfer in incompressible air between two inclined parallel plates are analyzed with the Boussinesq approximation by using spectral methods. The plates are assumed to be infinitely long in streamwise and spanwise directions. For these directions, periodic boundary conditions are used and for the normal direction constant wall temperature and no slip boundary conditions are used. Unsteady Navier-Stokes and energy equations are solved using a pseu...
The application of BEM to MHD flow and heat transfer in a rectangular duct with temperature dependent viscosity
Ebren Kaya, Elif; Tezer, Münevver ( EC LTD.; 2018-07-11)
The steady, laminar, fully developed MHD flow of an incompressible, electrically conducting fluid with temperature dependent viscosity is studied in a rectangular duct together with its heat transfer. Although the induced magnetic field is neglected due to the small Reynolds number, the Hall effect, viscous and Joule dissipations are taken into consideration. The momentum equation for the pipe-axis velocity and the energy equation are solved iteratively. Firstly, the momentum equation is solved by using the...
