Analyzing the impact of a decision support system on a medium sized apparel company

2018-01-01
Decision Support Systems (DSS) have been considered as a crucial tool providing competitive advantages, productivity as well as flexibility. The system analysis of a representative medium sized apparel company is performed to derive the requirements of the specific DSS developed to analyze the effects of using it in the apparel company. The observed benefits of the DSS after one year of use are providing efficient use of capacity, accordingly decreasing production costs, effective and accurate calculation of pre-cost estimation, improved user performance and response time to customers, as well as increased financial turnover rate, customer service and decision quality.

Assessment of agile maturity models: a multiple case study
Özcan Top, Özden (2013-06-04)
Agile methods are welcomed by software community in recent years. The move from traditional methods to agile methods is not straightforward. Software organizations need assistance to achieve transition from traditional software development approaches to agile approaches and to improve their agile capability. During the last few years several agile maturity models/frameworks are developed to guide organizations in agile process improvement and agile adoption. In this study, we assess the strengths and weakne...
A hierarchical decision support system for workforce planning in medical equipment maintenance services
Cihangir, Çiğdem; Bayındır, Zeynep Pelin; Tan, Tarkan; Department of Industrial Engineering (2010)
In this thesis, we propose a hierarchical level decision support system for workforce planning in medical equipment maintenance services. In strategic level, customer clusters and the total number of field engineers is determined via a mixed integer programming and simulation. In MIP, we aim to find the minimum number of field engineers. Afterwards, we analyze service measures such as response time via simulation. In tactical level, quarterly training program for the field engineers is determined via mixed ...
A Framework for qualitative assessment of domain specific languages
Kahraman, Gökhan; Bilgen, Semih; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2013)
Domain Specific Languages (DSLs) have been proposed in the literature with the aim of providing a wide range of advantages such as better productivity and quality for stakeholders involved with many aspects of software development. The objective of this study consists of supporting the improvement of DSL maturity by providing an A Framework for Qualitative Assessment of DSLs(FQAD). A formal approach is proposed for the assessment of DSLs. Metrics for DSL success measurement and the parameters that affect th...
Evaluation and selection of case tools: a methodology and a case study
Okşar, Koray; Okşar, Koray; Department of Information Systems (2010)
Today’s Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) technology covers nearly all activities in software development ranging from requirement analysis to deployment.Organizations are evaluating CASE tool solutions to automate or ease their processes. While reducing human errors, these tools also increase control, visibility and auditability of the processes. However, to achieve these benefits, the right tool or tools should be selected for usage in the intended processes. This is not an easy task when the vas...
