Development of An Upwind Linearized Harmonic Flow Solver For Turbomachinery Flows
Saygın, Aras; Baran, Özgür Uğraş; Aksel, Mehmet Haluk; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2022-8-31)
Many modern turbomachines, especially turbofans and turbojets used in modern aircraft, contain many rotor-stator stages. The rotor stator rows of a typical modern aircraft engine are between 2 to 20 for fan-compressor part and between 2 to 7 for the turbine. Unsteady CFD analyses of rotor-stator systems are generally performed with minimal time steps due to the high relative speed of the rows. These CFD analyses should be performed for at least two complete rotations of the rows to achieve reasonable conver...
Development of a 635nm-Laser Diode Spectrometer for Continuous Monitoring of Amino Nitrogen in the Beet Sugar Industry
ÜLGEN, Ahmet; Gökmen, Ali; ŞAHİN, Uğur; Herdem, Huelya; Cengiz, Hasan I. (Informa UK Limited, 2009-01-01)
The quality of sugar beet is affected by harmful nitrogen compounds. Although nitrogen is one of the essential elements for plants, introduction of excess nitrogen as fertilizer to the soil increases the nitrogen containing compounds in beet which deteriorates the quality of sugar production. Hence, the concentration of soluble nitrogen in beets was monitored as a routine process in the sugar industry. In this work, a low cost, but very long life time laser diode spectrometer, was developed for continuous m...

Development of an ultra wide band (UWB) array antenna
Ceylan, Hasan Akın; Aydın Çivi, Hatice Özlem; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2022-4)
Demand for ultrawideband antenna arrays in telecommunications, space and airborne platforms, RADAR applications and MIMO systems, etc. is rising consistantly. A modern approach to develop an ultrawideband array is to utilize the mutual coupling between array elements. Even though individual elements are of narrowband characteristic in isolated form, they gain ultrawideband performance in array configuration under strong mutual coupling. In this work, an ultrawideband tightly coupled dipole array antenna is ...
