Nonlinear Dynamic Analysis of a Spiral Bevel Geared System
Yavuz, Siar Deniz; Saribay, Zihni Burcay; Ciğeroğlu, Ender (2017-02-02)
A nonlinear dynamic model of a spiral bevel gear train mounted on flexible shafts and bearings is proposed in this study. The finite element model of shafts is combined with a three-dimensional discrete mesh model of a spiral bevel gear pair. Bearing flexibilities are as well included in the model. Gear backlash is incorporated into the model in the form of clearance-type displacement functions and clearance nonlinearity and stiffness fluctuations of the bearings are neglected. A time-invariant mesh stiffne...
Optimization of Tooth Bending Fatigue Characteristics of Spur Gear Pairs using a Gear Dynamics based Approach
ÖZTÜRK, YALIN; Ciğeroğlu, Ender; Özgüven, Hasan Nevzat (2015-08-05)
A gear tooth profile optimization study is performed with the target being defined as the maximization of tooth bending fatigue life for a selected operational range, where the operating torque and speed ranges are defined along with their corresponding durations. For this purpose, a nonlinear lumped gear dynamics model is combined with the S/N curve of the gear material in order to estimate tooth bending fatigue life of the spur gear pair. The differences between the predicted lives of the optimally modifi...
Direct calculation of AGMA geometry factor J by making use of polynomial equations
Arıkan, Mehmet Ali Sahir (2002-07-01)
The available sources and procedures for determination of AGMA geometry factor J are tables, charts and semi-analytical methods. When computerized gear design is considered, usage of tables requires a number of interpolations; usage of charts requires curve fitting; and usage of semi-analytical methods needs a numerical algorithm and may have convergence problems. As an alternative to these, polynomial equations for direct calculation of AGMA geometry factor J are derived for external spur gears. Thus, it i...
Invariant subspaces of positive operators on riesz spaces and observations on cd0(K)-spaces
Çağlar, Mert; Ercan, Zafer; Department of Mathematics (2005)
The present work consists of two main parts. In the first part, invariant subspaces of positive operators or operator families on locally convex solid Riesz spaces are examined. The concept of a weakly-quasinilpotent operator on a locally convex solid Riesz space has been introduced and several results that are known for a single operator on Banach lattices have been generalized to families of positive or close-to-them operators on these spaces. In the second part, the so-called generalized Alexandroff dupl...
Nonlinear dynamics of spiral bevel gear pair
Önal, Birkan; Ciğeroğlu, Ender; Sarıbay, Zihni Burçay; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2018)
Nonlinear dynamics of a generic spiral bevel gear pair used in high speed, high power gearboxes is studied in this thesis. Different tooth ease-off topographies are generated based on real machine settings. Tooth micro geometries are established in order to obtain profile crowning, lengthwise crowning and flank twist topographies. Details of macro and micro geometry and corresponding real machine settings are given in this study. Path of contact, contact stress, directional rotation radius, load share, unlo...
