In this study, the FRP-confined concrete models for prismatic members given in the ACI440.2R-08 and Turkish Earthquake Code (TEC2007) are compared with the experimental data taken from the literature. It is found that TEC2007 assumes only hardening behavior for concrete strengthened with FRP. Although ACI440.2R-08 assumes a hardening and softening behavior depending on the confinement-effectiveness, the limit separating the hardening and softening must be improved to predict the behavior well. The assumptions in these codes cannot predict the post-peak region of force-deformation curves because of the high factor of safeties. It is essential to understand the degree of confinement, confinement effectiveness and the resulting stress-strain relationship of a concrete strengthened with FRP.

A STUDY OF IMPURITY EFFECT ON ORDERING CHARACTERISTICS OF FE3AL INTERMETALLICS
Mehrabov, Amdulla; Ozturk, T (Elsevier BV, 1994-03-01)
A study is carried out into energetical and structural characteristics of atomic ordering processes in Fe3Al. The statistico-thermodynamical theory of ordering by a quasichemical method is combined with the electronic theory of alloys in pseudopotential approximation in order to predict impurity effects on DO3 double-line arrow pointing left and right B2 phase transition temperature and the characteristics of atomic short-range order in Fe3Al-type intermetallics. Impurity elements in Fe3(Al, Me) Me-Cr, Si, ...
A Study on the catalytic pyrolysis and combustion characteristics of Turkish lignite and co-processing effects with biomass under various ambient conditions
Abbasi Atibeh, Ehsan; Yozgatlıgil, Ahmet; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2012)
In this study the catalytic pyrolysis and combustion characteristics of Turkish coal samples in O2/N2 and O2/CO2 (oxy-fuel conditions) ambient conditions were explored and the evolution of emissions during these tests was investigated using non-isothermal Thermo-gravimetric Analysis (TGA) technique combined with Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Potassium carbonate (K2CO3), calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2), iron (III) oxide (Fe2O3) and iron (III) chloride (FeCl3) were employed as precursors of cata...
The Effects of Implementing Different Ground-motionLogic-tree Frameworks on Seismic Risk Assessment
Ay, Bekir Özer (null; 2018-06-21)
This study investigates the link between probabilistic seismic hazard assessment and corresponding loss estimations by using different ground-motion logic-tree frameworks from reliable large scale seismic hazard projects as well as the logic-tree framework established in this study. The predictive models selected for these logic trees are expected to represent the center, body and range of ground-motion intensity measure estimates. Regarding with the hazard component of risk assessment, the ground motion in...
A stochastic approach in reserve estimation
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (Informa UK Limited, 2006-12-01)
Geostatistics and more especially stochastic modeling of reservoir heterogeneities are being increasingly considered by reservoir analysts and engineers for their potential in generating more accurate reservoir models together with usable measures of spatial uncertainty. Geostatistics provides a probabilistic framework and a toolbox for data analysis with an early integration of information. The uncertainty about the spatial distribution of critical reservoir parameters is modeled and transferred all the wa...
A Comparison of Local Site Conditions with Passive and Active Surface Wave Methods
Akgün, Haluk; Koçkar, Mustafa Kerem (null; 2010-05-29)
This study encompasses dynamic soil characterization and seismic hazard mapping of the Plio-Quaternary and especially Quaternary alluvial sediments of the Çubuk district and its close vicinity that is situated towards the north of Ankara. The project site is located at a region which has a potential of being seriously affected by a possible earthquake occurring along the Çubuk Fault Zone that is thought to be a continuation of the Dodurga Fault Zone and a sub-fault belt of the North Anatolian Fault System t...
