Direct hydrothermal synthesis of palladium-incorporated silicate-structured mesoporous catalysts
Sener, Canan; Doğu, Timur; Dogu, Guelsen (2007-01-01)
Pd-Si-structured novel mesoporous nanocomposite catalytic materials, having quite high Pd/Si ratios, were synthesized by an acidic direct hydrothermal synthesis route. The nanocomposite catalytic materials were then characterized by XRD, XPS, EDS, nitrogen adsorption, and SEM techniques. Unlike MCM-41, the XRD patterns indicated a rather wide d((100)) band at a 2 theta value of about 1.9. The materials, with very high Pd/Si wt ratios between 1.43 and 2.66, were synthesized and had BJH surface area values be...
Direct photopatterning of light-activated gold nanoparticles
Subramani, Chandramouleeswaran; Yu, Xi; Agasti, Sarit. S.; Duncan, Bradley; Eymur, Serkan; Tonga, Murat; Rotello, Vincent M. (Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), 2011-01-01)
Photoactivatable gold NPs were patterned via photolithography. In this approach, charge reversal of the ligands on NPs upon UV irradiation induces crosslinking to generate stable NP patterns.
Direct synthesis of dimethyl ether (dme) from synthesis gas using novel catalysts
Arınan, Ayça; Varışlı, Dilek; Department of Chemical Engineering (2010)
Increasing prices of crude oil derived transportation fuels ascended the researches on seeking alternative fuels, in last decades. Moreover, the increasing rate of global warming, because of high greenhouse gas emissions initiated new research for environment-friendly clean alternative fuels. Due to its low NOx emission, good burning characteristics and high cetane number, dimethyl ether (DME) attracted major attention as a transportation fuel alternative. Two possible pathways have been proposed for DME pr...
