RXTE timing analysis of the anomalous X-ray pulsar 1E 2259+586
Icdem, B.; Baykal, Altan; İNAM, SITKI ÇAĞDAŞ (2012-02-01)
We present a pulse-timing analysis of Rossi X-ray Timing Explorer (RXTE) observations of the anomalous X-ray pulsar 1E 2259+586 from its 2002 outburst to 2010 October. We have the following objectives: to extend the work on the recovery stage after the 2002 glitch; to investigate the variations caused by the second glitch that occurred in 2007; to look for other unusual events, if any, that arise in the regular spin-down trend of the source. We find that the fractional change in the spin frequency derivativ...
Mathematical modelling for wave drag optimization and design of high-speed aircrafts
Citak, Can; Özgen, Serkan; Weber, Gerhard Wilhelm (2017-01-01)
© 2017, Springer International Publishing AG.Supersonic flight has been the subject of last half century. Both civil and defence projects have been running to design an aircraft to fly faster than speed of sound. Developing technology and increasing experience of design leads to faster, fuel efficient, hence, ecological, long-ranged aircrafts. These vehicles make people live easy by shortening travel time, perform missions with powerful defence aircrafts and helping explore space. Aerodynamic design is the ...
Thin film piezoelectric acoustic transducer for fully implantable cochlear implants
Ilık, Bedirhan; Koyuncuoglu, Aziz; Sardan-Sukas, Ozlem; Külah, Haluk (Elsevier BV, 2018-09-01)
This paper reports the development of a single cantilever thin film PLD-PZT transducer prototype. The device was experimentally characterized by attaching it on an acoustically vibrating membrane resembling the behavior of the eardrum. Acceleration characteristic of the sensor attached on the membrane was obtained by using a Laser Doppler Vibrometer (LDV) as the output voltage was measured by an oscilloscope. A voltage output of 114 mV was obtained, when the device was excited at 110 dB Sound Pressure Level...
Specters of a Housing Complex: Race, Modern Architecture, and The Pruitt-Igoe Myth
Pinar, Ekin (2021-10-02)
Examining the issue of endurance from the perspective of architectural representation, this paper analyzes the afterlives of the Pruitt-Igoe housing complex by especially focusing on the 2011 documentary film The Pruitt-Igoe Myth, directed by Chad Freidrichs. The imagery of the demolishment of the housing complex that have largely served as an icon of reactions against modernist architecture. The documentary The Pruitt-Igoe Myth, in turn, unearthed the racial dynamics that underwrote the history of the buil...
Evolving Legal And Institutional Frameworks Of Neoliberal Urban Policies In Turkey
