Temperature resistant mutants of Rhodobacter capsulatus generated by a directed evolution approach and effects of temperature resistance on hydrogen production
Gokce, Abdulmecit; Ozturk, Yavuz; Çakar, Zeynep Petek; Yucel, Meral (Elsevier BV, 2012-11-01)
Hydrogen (H-2) is a promising alternative energy carrier which can be produced biologically. Rhodobacter capsulatus, a non-sulfur purple photosynthetic bacterium, can produce H-2 under nitrogen-limited, photoheterotrophic conditions by using reduced carbon sources such as simple organic acids. Outdoor closed photobioreactors; used for biological H-2 production are located under direct sunlight, as a result; bioreactors are exposed to temperature fluctuations during day time. In this study to overcome this p...
Temperature dependence of the spetroscopic and structural properties of T1GaS2 and T1InS2 crystals
Açıkgöz, Muhammed; Özkan, Hüsnü; Department of Physics (2004)
The results of photoluminescence (PL) spectra of TlGaS2 single crystal were reported in the 500-1400 nm wavelength and in the 15-115 K temperature range. Three broad PL bands with an asymmetric Gaussian lineshapes were observed to be centered at 568 nm (A-band), 718 nm (B-band) and 1102 nm (C-band). The shift of the emission band peak energy as well as the change of the half-width of the emission band with temperature and excitation laser intensity were also studied. We analyzed the observed results using t...
Temperature effects on the structural and optical properties of the TlInSe2xS2(1-x) mixed crystals (x=0.3)
Omar, A.; Qasrawi, A. F.; Hasanlı, Nızamı (2017-11-15)
In this work, we have studied the temperature effects on the recrystallization process and on the energy band gap of the TlInSe(2)xS(2(1 - x)) mixed crystals at the critical composition (x = 0.3) where structural phase transition from tetragonal to monoclinic takes place. Remarkable effect which included permanent recrystallization process, enlargements in the monoclinic crystallite size, decreases in the compressing strain and in the dislocation density as well as in the stacking faults and in the energy b...
Temperature dependence of the phospholipids bilayers stability, studied by FTIR spectroscopy
Severcan, Feride; Agheorghiesei, Catalin; Dorohoi, Dana-Ortansa (2008-03-01)
The temperature induced modifications in the lipid bilayers in water were studied by using 2D-FTIR Correlation Spectroscopy. The spectral range analysed in this paper corresponds to symmetric and asymmetric stretching vibrations of the -CH2 groups from the acyl chains of DPPC. Autocorrelation peaks at 2916 cm(-1) and 2848.5 cm(-1) and asynchrone modifications in the spectral ranges 2916-3000 cm(-1) and 2848-3000 cm(-1) were evidenced. The revealed modifications indicate changes in the conformers of the hydr...
