Isolation and Characterization of Salmonella Bacteriophages
DENİZ, Aysu; Soyer, Yeşim; Department of Food Engineering (2022-2-03)
Numerous foodborne infections and outbreaks are associated with Salmonella which makes it a challenge in terms of human health and economy. Therefore, reducing the prevalence of Salmonella in food and food processing areas is of great importance. Antibiotics are the substances that are commonly used in various stages of food production in order to fight against Salmonella. However, concerns related with the antibiotic use like antibiotic resistance give rise to pursuit of safer methods to eliminate Salmonel...
Isolation and characterization of the k9 type yeast killer protein

Isolation and characterization of the K6 type yeast killer protein
Izgu, F; Altinbay, D; Sagiroglu, AK (1999-01-01)
The optimum production of K6 type yeast killer protein by Kluyveromyces fragilis NCYC 587 occurred at pH 4.0-4.4 and at 22-24 degrees C in a killer-zone assay test. The K6 killer protein was concentrated by acetone precipitation of the culture supernatant and purified by native polyacrylamide rod gel electrophoresis. The protein migrated as a single band on discontinuous gradient SDS polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and had a molecular weight of 42,313. The isoelectric point of the K6 type protein was det...
Isolation of a chitosan degrading fungus, Penicillium spinulosum, and chitosanase production by the isolate
Ak, O; Bakir, U; Güray, Nülüfer Tülün (1996-12-18)
A chitosan degrading fungus was isolated from chitosan and then identified as Penicillium spinulosum by the International Mycological Institute, England. The isolate was used for the production of chitosanase in a salts medium with either chitosan or Rhizopus cell walls as the sole carbon source. Chitosanase was produced under all the conditions tested, however better yields were obtained by using Rhizopus cell walls.
Isolation and immunological characterization of theta class glutathione-s-transferase gstt2-2 from bovine liver
İşgör, Sultan Belgin; Çoruh, Nursen; Department of Biochemistry (2004)
The glutathione-S-transferases (GSTs) (EC.2.5.1.18) are enzymes that participate in cellular detoxification of endogenous as well as foreign electrophilic compounds, function in the cellular detoxification systems and are evolved to protect cells against reactive oxygen metabolites by conjugating the reactive molecules to the nucleophile scavenging tripeptide glutathione (GSH, ?-glu-cys-gly). The GSTs are found in all eukaryotes and prokaryotic systems, in the cytoplasm, on the microsomes, and in the mitoch...
