Frequency of Mainstream Curriculum Models: Investigation of Early Childhood Education Doctoral Dissertation and International Journals in Turkey
Demirtaş İlhan, Seden; Eryiğit, Sümeyra; Erden, Feyza (2019-06-24)
Problem Statement In general, early childhood education programs aim to provide both improvements in academic skills like language and literacy skills and math and science abilities and wellness in all domains of development for children (Pianta, Barnett, Justice, & Sheridan, 2012). Another goal of preschool education is defined by New and Cochran (2006) as providing a smooth transition from the home environment to primary school. In line with the aims of early childhood education, existing literature confi...
Acceptance of Software Process Improvement Models in Small and Medium Sized Enterprises: Empirical Findings of IT Sector in Turkey
Durmuş, Suna; Özkan Yıldırım, Sevgi; Özcan Top, Özden; Department of Information Systems (2023-1-25)
The software industry is playing a significant role in development of economies all over the world. It is mainly made up of small and medium software enterprises (SMEs). These companies aim to benefit from Software Process Improvements (SPI) to increase product quality and productivity in a competitive environment. Several SPI models have been developed to improve software quality in SMEs. As SPI require organizational change and adaptation to new tools, techniques and work practices; organizations have to ...
EFFECTIVENESS OF CONCEPTUAL CHANGE STRATEGIES IN SCIENCE EDUCATION: A META-ANALYSIS
Paçacı, Çağatay; Özdemir, Ömer Faruk; Üstün, Ulaş; Department of Secondary Science and Mathematics Education (2022-6-29)
There is extensive literature focusing on students’ misconceptions in various subject domains. Several conceptual change approaches have been trying to understand how conceptual change occurs to help learners handle these misconceptions. This meta-analysis aimed to integrate studies investigating the effectiveness of three types of conceptual change strategies; cognitive conflict, cognitive bridging, and ontological category shift in science learning. We conducted a random-effects meta-analysis to calculate...
Incidence of violence in Turkish schools A review
Sümer, Zeynep (1999-11-01)
The present article deals with the incidence of violence cases in Turkish schools. A review of research based on published research reports and unpublished M.Sc. and Ph.D. dissertations is presented and basic lines of research are discussed. Special emphasis was placed upon culturally specific issues, besides the culturally determined attitudes of parents and teachers. The need for a nationwide system for the prevention of violence and corporal punishment was emphasized.
FREQUENCY-ANALYSIS OF CORNER POINT SUPPORTED MINDLIN PLATES BY A FINITE-DIFFERENCE ENERGY METHOD
AKSU, G; FELEMBAN, MB (Elsevier BV, 1992-11-08)
The first known solution of the title problem is presented. A method based on the variational procedure in conjunction with a finite difference method is used to examine the free vibration characteristics. Numerical studies show that the convergence is relatively slow, requiring a finer mesh model. In view of the symmetry of the geometry of the plate and the symmetry in the distribution of the point supports, only one-quarter of the plate is examined. Three mode types are developed to account for the full p...
