Catalytic autothermal reforming of methane was studied over a commercial nickel catalyst as a function of feed flow rate, feed composition and oven temperature. Temperature profile of the catalyst bed was measured by IR thermography and product composition was measured with a continuous gas analyzer.

Catalytic autothermal reforming of methane was studied over a commercial rhodium catalyst as a function of feed flow rate, feed composition and oven temperature.
Effect of an anionic surfactant on different type of hydrate structures
Karaaslan, U; Uluneye, E; Parlaktuna, Mahmut (2002-07-01)
In this study, methane and gas mixture (including 88.17% propane) hydrates were produced from the anionic surfactant solutions of 0.00, 0.01 and 0.05 wt.% to investigate the effect of surfactant on the hydrate formation rate. Hydrate formation rate increases (promotion effect) with surfactant concentration, but the extent of the surfactant effect is closely related with the type of hydrate structure. The increase in the hydrate formation rate of sII type structure is relatively small compared to that obtain...
Effect of calcium carbonate addition on carbothermic formation of hexagonal boron nitride
ÇAMURLU, HASAN ERDEM; SEVİNÇ, NACİ; Topkaya, Yavuz Ali (Elsevier BV, 2008-01-01)
Effect of CaCO3 on formation of hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) was investigated by holding CaCO3 free and CaCO3 added activated carbon-boric oxide mixtures under nitrogen atmosphere at 1500 degrees C for 30-120 min. Amount of CaCO3 addition was varied in the range of 0-50 wt.% of the initial mixture. Products were characterized by powder X-ray diffractometry, FT-IR analysis, quantitative chemical analysis, scanning electron microscopy and BET specific surface area analysis. It was observed that calcium carb...
Effect of alumina incorporation on the sulfur tolerance of the dual-catalyst aftertreatment system for reduction of nitrogen oxides under lean conditions
Sinha Majumdar, Sreshtha; Alexander, Anne-Marie; Gawade, Preshit; Çelik, Gökhan; Ozkan, Umit S. (2019-01-15)
Presence of sulfur or sulfur additives in natural gas lead to the formation of sulfur dioxide in the exhaust stream of natural gas-fired lean-burn engines. The sulfur tolerance and hydrothermal stability of the dual-catalyst aftertreatment system comprising a reduction catalyst (palladium supported on sulfated zirconia-Pd/SZ) and an oxidation catalyst (cobalt oxide supported on ceria-CoOx/CeO2) for NOx reduction under lean-burn conditions has been tested under simulated engine exhaust conditions. Alumina-in...
EFFECT OF PRETREATMENTS ON THE SEMICONTINUOUS ANAEROBIC-DIGESTION OF SUNFLOWER HEADS
POLAT, H; Selçuk, Nevin; SOYUPAK, S (1992-10-01)
The effects of hydraulic retention time and alkali treatment on methane production rate from the semicontinuous anaerobic digestion of 2 % sunflower-head/water mixtures were investigated. The experiments were carried out in laboratory-scale fermenters, fed with 1 liter of untreated, 2 g NaOH/100 g total solids (TS), and 5 g NaOH/100 g TS alkali-treated sunflower-head/water mixtures, respectively, and maintained at 55-degrees-C Digestion experiments were performed for hydraulic retention times of 8, 10, and ...
