A perceptual shape descriptor
Arica, N; Yarman Vural, Fatoş Tunay (2002-08-15)
In this study, we present the two dimensional object silhouette by a one dimensional descriptor, which, preserves the perceptual structure of its shape. The proposed descriptor is based on the moments of the angles between the bearings of a point on the boundary, in a set of neighborhood systems. At each point on the boundary, the angle between a pair of bearings is calculated to extract the topological information of the boundary in a given locality. The proposed method does not use any-heuristic rule or em...
A GENERALIZED FIXED-POINT-FREE ACTION
Güloğlu, İsmail Şuayip; Ercan, Gülin (2013-05-01)
In this paper we study the structure of a finite group G admitting a solvable group A of automorphisms of coprime order so that for any x epsilon C-G(A) of prime order or of order 4, every conjugate of x in G is also contained in C-G(A). Under this hypothesis it is proven that the subgroup [G, A] is solvable. Also an upper bound for the nilpotent height of [G, A] in terms of the number of primes dividing the order of A is obtained in the case where A is abelian.
A technopoietic investigation: techné as a discursive formation in architecture
UZ BAKİ, MELEK PINAR; Basa, İnci; Department of Architecture (2022-11-04)
The thesis defines making of actively doing, learning, and revealing in ways that simultaneously engage in the thinking activities of changing actors, practical applications, and the transformation of techniques, materials, and technologies as a central aspect of architecture, in terms of the actual processes of designing, production, generation, and accumulation of knowledge. As proposed, making is the fundamental notion in architecture that refers to how design thinking acts and how knowledge, related pat...
A low-power switched-current algorithmic A/D converter
Tezel, A; Akın, Tayfun (1999-06-02)
This paper reports the development of a low-power switched-current algorithmic A/D converter based on a new algorithm, providing the bit conversion in three-cycles. The converter uses modified (SI)-I-2 type current copiers to reduce the overall area and power consumption. The analog portion of the converter occupies only 0.35mm(2) area in 3 mu m CMOS technology. The simulation results show that the converter provides 10 bits resolution with a conversion rate of 61kHz, while dissipating only 1mW power from a...
