Architectural modeling identifies several concerns in problem domain and associates them with design decisions in solution domain. There is, however, no commonsense on how to localize problem domain concerns and relate them to the solution domain. This paper proposes a modeling approach to address the architectural concerns in multiple concern spaces both for problem and solution domains, and align them "symmetrically ". This approach identifies the problem domain in multiple concern spaces by correlating the "architectural aspects" and "quality attributes". The solution domain is likewise identified in other multiple concern spaces by correlating the "multi-views" and "multi-tiers " of architectures. Symmetric alignment is used here for the correlation between separate concern spaces instead of mapping individual concerns from problem to solution domain. The paper claims that this alignment helps identifying architectural components, connectors and properties in the solution domain. © 2006 IEEE.

An Approach for introducing a set of domain specific components
Yiğit, İbrahim Onuralp; Doğru, Ali Hikmet; Department of Computer Engineering (2015)
In this thesis, a preliminary methodology is proposed for the determination of a set of components to populate the domain model of a Software Product Line infrastructure. Software Product Line based approaches focus on the reusability of assets for a family of software products. For effective reuse, the definition of reusable assets in this thesis considers variability in a domain. The approach is based on variability specifications that is rooted in Feature Models and is reflected to a component modeling n...
An inspection approach for conceptual models of the mission space in a domain specific notation
Tanrıöver, Ö. Özgür; Bilgen, Semih; Department of Information Systems (2008)
An inspection approach is proposed for improving the quality of conceptual models developed in a domain specific notation. First, the process of identification of desirable properties of conceptual models in a domain specific notation is described. Intra- and interview properties are considered. Semantic properties are defined considering the conceptual modeling notation. A systematic inspection process is proposed for checking semantic properties of different types of diagrams and of the relations between ...
An approach for generating natural language specifications by utilizing business process models
Coşkunçay, Ahmet; Arifoğlu, Ali; Yılal, Elif; Department of Information Systems (2010)
Business process modeling is utilized by organizations for defining and reengineering their business processes. On the other hand, software requirements analysis activities are performed for determining the system boundaries, specifying software requirements using system requirements and resolving conflicts between requirements. From this point of view, these two activities are considered in different disciplines. An organization requiring its business processes to be defined and supported with information ...
User-guided transformations for ontology based simulation design
Özdikiş, Özer; Durak, Umut; Oğuztüzün, Mehmet Halit S. (null; 2009-12-01)
Using domain knowledge represented as ontologies for the design of domain specific architectures is a promising approach for better reusability. Tool support is essential for this approach to be effective. We present a flexible, user- guided transformation method to generate a framework architecture model from a domain model. The latter is in the form of an OWL ontology, and the former is in the form of a UML class diagram. We introduce a transformation tool that allows the user to configure mappings from t...
An approach for including business requirements to soa design
Ocaktürk, Murat; Doğru, Ali Hikmet; Department of Computer Engineering (2010)
In this thesis, a service oriented decomposition approach: Use case Driven Service Oriented Architecture (UDSOA), is introduced to close the gap between business requirements and SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) design by including business use cases and system use cases into decomposition process. The approach is constructed upon Service Oriented Software Engineering (SOSE) modeling technique and aims to fill the deficits of it at the decomposition phase. Further, it aims to involve both business vision...
