A Fabry-Perot microcavity is used for the enhancement and inhibition of photoluminescence in hydrogenated amorphous silicon nitride. The amplitude of the photoluminescence is enhanced 4 times, while its linewidth is reduced 8 times with respect to the bulk hydrogenated amorphous silicon nitride. The transmittance, reflectance, and absorptance spectra of the microcavity were also measured and calculated. The calculated spectra agree well with the experimental ones. Alteration of spontaneous emission in hydrogenated amorphous silicon nitride microcavities
Serpenguzel, A; Aydinli, A; Bek, Alpan (1998-01-01)
A Fabry-Perot microcavity is used for the alteration of the spontaneous emission spectrum in hydrogenated amorphous silicon nitride. The modified photon density of states of the Fabry-Perot microcavity are responsible for the alteration of the spontaneous emission spectrum. The Fabry-Perot microcavity enhances the intensity of the spontaneous emission signal by a factor of 4 at the photon energies corresponding to the microcavity resonances. The 0.075 eV wide spontaneous emission Linewidth of the Fabry-Pero...
Visible photoluminescence from planar amorphous silicon nitride microcavities
Serpenguzel, A; Aydinli, A; Bek, Alpan; Gure, M (1998-11-01)
Fabry-Perot microcavities were used for the enhancement and inhibition of photoluminescence (PL) in a hydrogenated amorphous silicon nitride (a-SiNx:H) microcavity fabricated with and without ammonia. A planar microcavity was realized that included a metallic back mirror and an a-SiNx:H-air or a metallic front mirror. The PL extends from the red part of the spectrum to the near infrared for the samples grown without ammonia. The PL is in the blue-green part of the spectrum for the samples grown with ammonia...
Enhanced Light Emission from Erbium Doped Silicon Nitride in Plasmonic Metal-Insulator-Metal Structures
Gong, Yiyang; Yerci, Selçuk; Li, Rui; Dal Negro, Luca; Vuckovic, Jelena (2009-11-09)
Plasmonic gratings and nano-particle arrays in a metal-insulator-metal structures are fabricated on an erbium doped silicon nitride layer. This material system enables simple fabrication of the structure, since the active nitride layer can be directly grown on metal. Enhancement of collected emission of up to 12 is observed on resonance, while broad off-resonant enhancement is also present. The output polarization behavior of the gratings and nano-particle arrays is investigated and matched to plasmonic res...
Observation of Transparency of Erbium-doped Silicon nitride in photonic crystal nanobeam cavities
Gong, Yiyang; Makarova, Maria; Yerci, Selcuk; Yerci, Selçuk; Stevens, Martin J.; BAEK, Burm; NAM, Sae Woo; Dal Negro, Luca; Vuckovic, Jelena (2010-06-21)
One dimensional nanobeam photonic crystal cavities are fabricated in an Er-doped amorphous silicon nitride layer. Photoluminescence from the cavities around 1.54 mu m is studied at cryogenic and room temperatures at different optical pump powers. The resonators demonstrate Purcell enhanced absorption and emission rates, also confirmed by time resolved measurements. Resonances exhibit linewidth narrowing with pump power, signifying absorption bleaching and the onset of stimulated emission in the material at ...
Modification of graphene oxide by ATRP: A pH-responsive additive in membrane for separation of salts, dyes and heavy metals
Mahmoudian, Mehdi; Ghasemıkouchameshgı, Mahmoud; Hosseinzadeh, Mohammadtaghi (2018-04-01)
Incorporation of hydrophilic multifunctional compounds in to the polymeric membrane's matrix is one of the useful methods for modification of mixed matrix membranes. Therefore, in this study, preparation and properties of polyethersulfone (PES) mixed matrix membranes with hydrolyzed polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA(hyd)) grafted on graphene oxide (GO-PMMA(hyd)) is investigated as an effective additive to improve permeability and antifouling properties. In this respect, grafting of PMMA(hyd) on the GO surface is...
