The mechanical properties and failure behavior of a tightly woven carbon-carbon composite were investigated and correlated with microstructural features. The analysis of fracture surfaces and microstructural characterization were accomplished using scanning electron microscopy. The tensile strength, flexural strength, fracture toughness, and failure mechanisms of this composite were determined at elevated temperatures.
