Prediction of multiphase flow properties from nuclear magnetic resonance imaging
Karaman, Türker; Akın, Serhat; Department of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering (2009)
In this study a hybrid Pore Network (PN) model that simulates two-phase (water-oil) drainage and imbibition mechanisms is developed. The developed model produces Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) T2 relaxation times using correlations available in the literature. The developed PN was calibrated using experimental relative permeability data obtained for Berea Sandstone, Kuzey Marmara Limestone, Yeniköy Dolostone and Dolomitic Limestone core plugs. Pore network body and throat parameters were obtained from ser...
Comparative analysis of the international regulations and guidelines related to the seismic hazard assessment for nuclear facilities
Güner, Barı; Gülerce, Zeynep; Department of Earthquake Studies (2019)
Turkey intends to build and operate twelve nuclear reactor units in the next ten years; therefore, the regulatory body of Turkey needs a systematic, comprehensive, and up-to-date seismic hazard assessment (SHA) guideline that is applicable for all candidate designs and compatible with the international legislative structures. To facilitate towards this goal, current SHA practice and related regulatory requirements of the leading countries, international organizations, and Turkey are evaluated and compared b...
Quantal effects on growth of instabilities in nuclear matter
Kaya, Dilan; Gökalp, Ahmet; Department of Physics (2004)
The quantal BoltzmannاLangevin equation is used to obtain a dispersion relation for the growth rates of instabilities in infinite nuclear matter. The dispersion relation is solved numerically for three different potentials. The quantal results are compared with the semi-classical solutions. It is seen that with the inclusion of the quantal effects the growth rates of the fastest growing modes in the system are reduced and these modes have the tendency to occur at longer wavelengths for all the potentials co...
Nükleer füzyon reaktör problemlerinin sınır elamanlar yöntemi ile çözümü

Geant4 based Monte Carlo simulation for carbon fragmentation in nuclear emulsion
Hosseini, Navid; Güler, Ali Murat; Department of Physics (2012)
The study is mainly focused on Monte Carlo simulation of carbon fragmentation in nuclear emulsion. The carbon ion is selected as a remarkable candidate for the cancer therapy usages due to its high efficiency in depositing majority of its energy in the narrow region which is called Bragg Peak. On the other hand, the main side effect of heavy-ion therapy is the radiation dose beyond the Bragg Peak which damages the healthy tissues. Therefore the use of heavy-ion in cancer therapy requires accurate understand...
