Vehicular Speed Learning in the Future Smart-cities' Paradigm
Al-Turjman, Fadi (2017-10-12)
In this paper we propose a vehicular speed learning framework that recommends best traffic load based on a particularly required latency and throughput conditions to be achieved. The framework is composed of two main layers, the base layer and two enhancement layers. The base layer aims at providing an in-vehicle wireless receiver to inform the driver about the speed limit within the area he/she is in. The first enhancement layer aims at providing the driver with a high level intelligence that can be utiliz...
Hexahedral mesh smoothing by means of particle swarm optimization
Yilmaz, Asim Egemen; Kuzuogluz, Mustafa (2007-06-13)
The main aim in this work is the smoothing and improvement of all-hexahedral mesh -especially created for the finite element method- by means of the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) technique. The optimization is performed by using various objective functions derived from several hexehadral element quality metrics. The proposed method is tested over some problems encountered in the electromagnetic theory.

Globular Actuator Group for Reversible Movement in a Complex Pipe
Yaguchi, H.; Sato, N. (2011-09-10)
Finding damage inside pipes is important for the inspection of complex pipes used in nuclear power plants and chemical plants. An in-pipe robot capable of movement in narrow complex pipes has not yet been developed. Two actuators of the same size and characteristics are coupled by the magnetic connection method, which generates almost no mechanical loss. The globular magnetic actuator group capable of reversible motion through elongation and contraction of eight shape memory-alloy (SMA) coils was fabricated...
Sycophant wireless sensor networks tracked by sparsemobile wireless sensor networks while cooperatively mapping an area
Doğru, Sedat; Erkmen, Aydan Müşerref; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2012)
In this thesis the novel concept of Sycophant Wireless Sensors (SWS) is introduced. A SWS network is a static ectoparasitic clandestine sensor network mounted incognito on a mobile agent using only the agent’s mobility without intervention. SWS networks not only communicate with each other through mobileWireless Sensor Networks (WSN) but also cooperate with them to form a global hybrid Wireless Sensor Network. Such a hybrid network has its own problems and opportunities, some of which have been studied in t...
