In this study, we have synthesized B doped Ca5(PO4)3OH (HAP) by a sonication chemical method. The thermoluminescence (TL) properties of the family of synthesized samples (B doped Ca5(PO4)3OH (HAP) were investigated using an IRSL-TL 565 nm filter. This gave the highest TL intensity of each phosphor after 2 Gy beta-irradiation. Three TL glow peaks of B doped Ca5(PO4)3OH (HAP) are centered at around 84, 208 and 324 degrees C (with a heating rate of 2 degrees Cs-1). The trapping parameters such as activation energy (E), order of kinetics (b), frequency factor (s) were calculated by using initial rise (IR), various heating rates (VHR) and computerized glow curve deconvolution (CGCD) method. The response of TL glow curves remained constant within +/- 5% deviation from the initial value after 9 cycles of reuse; but only at tenth cycle the deviation goes up to 6%.

Study of Sorption of Alcohols on High Silica ZSM-35
Babuçcuoğlu, Yurdaer; Yücel, Hayrettin; Department of Chemical Engineering (2007)
This study investigated the equilibrium sorption capacities and rates of sorption of some alcohols on Na- and/or H- form of ZSM-35 at different temperatures by gravimetric method using an electrobalance. The alcohols studied were methanol, ethanol, propan-1-ol, propan-2-ol, n-butanol. The ZSM-35 sample used in sorption experiments resulted from a study for synthesis of high silica ZSM-35 zeolite. This ZSM-35 sample was called as NaZSM-35. The influence of ion-exchange on the sorption capacity and kinetics w...
The Photocatalytic activity of praseodymium doped titanium dioxide
Doğu, Doruk; Karakaş, Gürkan; Ögel, Bilgehan; Department of Micro and Nanotechnology (2012)
In this study nanocrystalline TiO2 was synthesized by a sol-gel process. The effect of praseodymium (Pr) doping and calcination conditions on the textural properties of nano structured particles and photocatalytic activity were examined. Samples were synthesized by hydrolyzation of titanium tetra iso-propoxide (TTIP) and calcination at different temperatures. Characterizations of the samples were carried out using XRD, BET, XPS, TEM, and EDAX analyses. It was observed that anatase to rutile transformation i...
Investigation of bioprocess parameters for glucose isomerase production by Bacillus thermoantarcticus
Haykır, Işık; Çalık, Pınar; Department of Chemical Engineering (2007)
In this study, the effects of bioprocess parameters on glucose isomerase roduction by Bacillus thermoantarcticus (DSMZ 9572) were investigated. For his purpose, firstly, in laboratory scale shake-bioreactors, a defined medium was designed in terms of its carbon and nitrogen sources, to achieve the highest glucose isomerase activity. Optimum concentrations of medium components were determined by a statistical approach, namely Response Surface Methodology (RSM). RSM defined the relationship between the respon...
Investigation of the effects of high hydrostatic pressure on the functional properties of pea protein isolate
Kalayci, Asuhan; Özel, Barış; Öztop, Halil Mecit; Alpas, Hami (2022-01-01)
This study investigates the effects of high hydrostatic pressure (HHP) on some functional properties of pea protein isolate (PPI). HHP was combined with various temperature and pH conditions to investigate the combined effects of HHP-based food processing conditions on the functional properties of PPI. Herein, PPI solutions prepared at different pH conditions (3.0, 5.0, and 7.0) were subjected to 300, 400, and 500 MPa HHP treatment at 25 and 50°C for 5 min. Water-holding capacity (WHC), solubility, and emul...
Investigation of the performance of colloidal LiFePO4 particles in suspension flow battery
Yıldız, Bayram; Aşkar, Yasemin; Coşkun, Elif; Maviş, Bora; Çınar, Simge (2021-06-12)
In this study, colloidal LiFePO4 particles were synthesized through solvothermal route. Effect of solvothermal method parameters on formation of colloidal LiFePO4 was investigated. Post-processing treatments were found effective to obtain non-aggregated colloidal particles. The rheological behavior of aqueous suspensions including electroactive material was examined in terms of salt, electroactive material concentration and carbon content. A three-electrode systems was used to analyze electrochemical perfor...
