Improved SIFT matching for image pairs with scale difference
BAŞTANLAR, YALIN; Temizel, Alptekin; Yardimci, Y. (2010-03-04)
When directly applied to images with different scales, scale invariant feature transform (SIFT) matching performance decreases significantly. In this reported work, this phenomenon is demonstrated and a simple method to increase the performance of SIFT matching is proposed. The proposed method includes preprocessing the images before matching and is compared to previously proposed solutions which only eliminate false matches.
Improved contact resistivity methods based on Cox-Strack and 4 point probe
Tsoi, Konstantin; Yerci, Selçuk; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2021-6)
Contact resistivity (c) of metal-semiconductor or conductive layer-semiconductor in the solar cells can limit their performance if not treated with care. It is, therefore, of great importance to be able to accurately measure rc for its optimization purposes. Many methodologies have been developed for this purpose. In this thesis, various methods for extracting rc are investigated. Namely, Transfer Length, Cox and Strack, four-point probe methods are discussed in detail. Cox and Strack and four-point probe ...
Improved grating based temperature measurements using deconvolution of optical spectra
Ergul, FR; Ertekin, T (2000-11-06)
The basic concepts of temperature measurement in power transformers and underground power cables using fiber optic gratings are introduced. The economic benefits of continuous temperature measurements are discussed. The problems encountered in high density applications, i.e. using many sensors in the same power transformer, is identified as the resolution limitation due to comparatively large bandwidth of optical filters used. The deconvolution technique has been proposed as a possible solution to improve a...
Improved torque and speed control performance in a vector-controlled PWM-VSI fed surface-mounted pmsm drive with conventional P-I controllers
Büyükkeleş, Ümit; Ersak, Aydın; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2012)
In this thesis, high performance torque and speed control for a surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) is designed, simulated and implemented. A three-phase two-level pulse width modulation voltage-source inverter (PWM-VSI) with power MOSFETs is used to feed the PMSM. The study has three objectives. The first is to compensate the voltage disturbance caused by nonideal characteristics of the voltage-source inverter (VSI). The second is to decouple the coupled variables in the synchronous...
