Fluid migration and rheological properties of different origin G-class cements in oil well drilling applications
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (2018-01-01)
In the first part of this study the effect of free water on fluid migration potential is tested for different cement slurries using standard API G-class quality tests. Static gel strength analyser is also used to measure the static gel strength of cement slurries. Three different class G type cement samples were tested according to their free fluid values which are 2.5%, 5%, 3.12% respectively, and it is found that A-type cement, with lowest free fluid content, has the lowest potential for fluid migration. ...
Fluid-structure interaction model for hydroplaning simulations
Dinescu, Cristian; Hirsch, Charles; Leonard, Benoît; Baran, Özgür Uğraş; Platschorre, Arie-Willem; Alessio, Rosario; Belluzzo, Damiano (2006-01-01)
The paper presents an integrated software tool for the hydroplaning simulation based on a weak coupled fluid-structure interaction model. The integrated modules are a flow solver FINE™/Hexa designed to solve the complex two-phase flow surrounding the tire numerically, based on unstructured hexahedral grids, the FEM solver MSC.Marc/MSC.Mentat which predicts the transients of the tire's structure, a coupling module for efficient and accurate transfer of the essential variables between the flow and FEM solvers...
Fluid-structure interaction analysis in external flows using Linearized Euler solver
Ardıç, Ata Tankut; Baran, Özgür Uğraş; Ciğeroğlu, Ender; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2022-8)
Flutter is an aeroelastic instability that requires numerous fluid-structure interaction (FSI) analyses during the design process of an aircraft. Even with technology of today, numerical solution of FSI problems is a challenge as these of problems require a high amount of computational power. Most of the computational cost stems from the computational fluid dynamics analysis (CFD) part of the computation, and time-dependent nature of the problem. Harmonic methods, which are very cost-efficient compared to u...
Fluid flux throughout matrix-fracture interface: Discretizing hydraulic fractures for coupling matrix Darcy flow and fractures non-Darcy flow
Al-Rbeawi, Salam; Owayed, Jalal F. (Elsevier BV, 2020-01-01)
The objective of this paper is focusing deep insights on reservoir fluid flux from a structurally complicated matrix to non-uniformly propagated hydraulic fractures. A hypothetical unconventional reservoir is considered with stimulated and un-stimulated reservoir volume. A Semi-analytical multilinear flow regimes model is developed for pressure distribution by coupling matrix Darcy flow model and hydraulic fracture non-Darcy flow model. Hydraulic fractures are discretized to several segments with a specific...
Fluid-CO2 injection impact in a geothermal reservoir: Evaluation with 3-D reactive transport modeling
AKIN, TAYLAN; Baser, Ali; Saracoglu, Onder; Akın, Serhat (2022-01-01)
Geothermal energy is commonly recognized as an environmentally friendly source of energy. However, geothermal fluids have unusually high CO2 content, particularly, in carbonated geothermal reservoirs. An efficient method to mitigate the CO2 emissions of geothermal power plants is to re-inject the captured CO2 with the effluent fluid to mineralize mainly into calcite under reservoir conditions (e.g., reservoir temperatures ranging from 200 to 220 degrees C). One of the major concerns about the re-injection o...
