Effect Of Volatile Fatty Acids On Methane Production İn Ozone Pre-Treated Anaerobic Digesters
Tuncay, Sera; İçgen, Bülent (null; 2018-09-07)
Anaerobic digestion (AD) is a biological wastewater sludge treatment process which transforms organic matter into methane-rich biogas. AD involves four key steps as hydrolysis, acidogenesis, acetogenesis and methanogenesis, respectively. In hydrolysis, a rate-limiting step, large organic polymers are broken down into simpler monomers. AD with ozone pre-treatment is used for the acceleration of this rate limiting step by converting solids into more easily biodegradable matter. As a result, sludge biodegradab...
Effect of calcination/reduction temperature of Ni impregnated CeO2-ZrO2 catalysts on hydrogen yield and coke minimization in low temperature reforming of ethanol
ARSLAN KELAM, ARZU; Doğu, Timur (2016-10-15)
CeO2-ZrO2 was proven to be a quite effective catalyst support for steam reforming of ethanol (SRE). In this study, properties of Ni impregnated mesoporous CeO2-ZrO2 catalysts of different compositions were optimized by changing the calcination/reduction temperature. Increase of calcination/reduction temperature from 400 degrees C to 650 degrees C caused significant decrease in surface area and redox ability of the catalysts, yielding higher coke formation and lower hydrogen yields. Results proved that, very...
Effect of Magnesium and Osteoblast Cell Presence on Hydroxyapatite Formation on (Ti,Mg)N Thin Film Coatings
Onder, Sakip; Calikoglu-Koyuncu, Ayse Ceren; Kose, Gamze Torun; Kazmanli, Kursat; Kök, Fatma Neşe; Urgen, Mustafa (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2017-07-01)
TiN and (Ti,Mg)N thin film coatings were deposited on Ti substrates by an arc-physical vapor deposition technique. The effect of cell presence on hydroxyapatite (HA) formation was investigated using surfaces with four different Mg contents (0, 8.1, 11.31, and 28.49 at.%). Accelerated corrosion above 10 at.% Mg had a negative effect on the performance in terms of both cell proliferation and mineralization. In the absence of cells, Mg-free TiN coatings and low-Mg (8.1 at.%)-doped (Ti,Mg)N surfaces led to an e...
Effect of Platinum, Gold, and Potassium Additives on the Surface Chemistry of CdI2-Antitype Mo2C
Dernirtas, Merve; Toffoli, Hande; Toffoli, Daniele (2017-11-01)
Transition metal carbides are versatile materials for diverse industrial applications including catalysis, where their relatively low cost is very attractive. In this work, we present a rather extensive density functional theory study on the energetics of adsorption of a selection of atomic and molecular species on two Mo terminations of the CdI2 antitype phase of Mo2C. Moreover, the coadsorption of CO in the presence of preadsorbed metal atoms and its dissociative adsorption in the absence and presence of ...
Effect of tetraethylene glycol side chain conformation on chiroptical properties of chirality-induced benzocoumarin
Öztürk, Perihan; Akdağ, Akın (2022-10-01)
Coumarins are multifaceted molecules with compelling fluorescence features. Along with biocompatible properties, they have recently been used in chiroptical studies. The chirality induction to benzo[f]coumarin moiety at the third position was investigated in this study. The chromophore derivatized with homochiral alanine and phenylalanine resulted in identical spectroscopic properties. When the chiroptical properties are concerned, the distinct CD spectra of both structures are also changed significantly by...
