Climate components have a significant impact on the supply of agricultural goods in two ways. Firstly, the climate condition influences the efficiency of agriculture and the volume of the harvested product. Secondly, the farmers harvesting their products would prefer to sell their goods in the season when the supply is limited at a higher price. Therefore, we can say that climate conditions can determine the price of agricultural products. Modeling the seasonal variables whose distributions are not the same and analyzing the dependence between agricultural products have great interest and importance in agricultural markets and risk theory. The primary motivation is to forecast the spot wheat prices under the influence of the climate component. For this purpose, we employ time series analysis for Konya's monthly adjusted weighted average prices of wheat transactions, whose clearing is conducted together with Istanbul Settlement and Custody Bank Inc., and climate components. Afterward, the adjusted spot prices against inflation is remodeled by using t-copula under the influence of climatic parameters to improve the predictions. For this purpose, the best models are selected for the temperature, relative humidity, and precipitation, and the residuals derived from those models are used to determine the vine structure. Vine trees help us understand if there is a core climate component with the dependence structure with other variables. Then, the adjusted spot wheat prices against inflation are simulated with respect to the output of the vine copula structure. The simulated adjusted wheat prices with t-copula give us a more accurate estimation than the predictions from the time-series analysis.

The impact of crude oil prices on financial market indicators: copula approach
Kayalar, Derya Ezgi; KÜÇÜKÖZMEN, CUMHUR ÇOŞKUN; Kestel, Sevtap Ayşe (2017-01-01)
Oil price changes have varying impacts on the financial indicators of global markets and economies. This study aims to explore the dependence structure between crude oil prices and stock market indices, as well as the exchange rates in a number of economies categorized with respect to their status as developing/emerging markets, and oil importer/exporter countries. Dependence structures in this study are evaluated in considerable depth using copula models. The broad time period covered allows the investigat...
The Evaporative Stress Index as an indicator of agricultural drought in Brazil: An assessment based on crop yield impacts
Anderson, Martha C.; Zolin, Cornelio A.; Sentelhas, Paulo C.; Hain, Christopher R.; Semmens, Kathryn; Yılmaz, Mustafa Tuğrul; Gao, Feng; Otkin, Jason A.; Tetrault, Robert (2016-03-01)
To effectively meet growing food demands, the global agronomic community will require a better understanding of factors that are currently limiting crop yields and where production can be viably expanded with minimal environmental consequences. Remote sensing can inform these analyses, providing valuable spatiotemporal information about yield-limiting moisture conditions and crop response under current climate conditions. In this paper we study correlations for the period 2003-2013 between yield estimates f...
Investigation of poultry slaughterhouse waste stream to produce bio-fuel for internal utilization
Ozdemir, Saim; Şimşek, Aslı; Özdemir, Serkan; Dede, Cemile (2022-05-01)
© 2022 Elsevier LtdPoultry slaughterhouses generate an abattoir sludge (PAS) that needs proper management in the principles of circular economy and green deal goals that imply a net-zero emissions, more resource efficient and sustainable economy. This study proposes a waste-to-energy approach as a sustainable strategy for water heating by utilizing waste stream and internal usage in poultry slaughterhouse sector. In the study, energy crop Arundo donax (AD) biomass produced by irrigating treated abattoir was...
Extending the lifespan of small kitchen appliances for sustainable design : a research on product maintenance and repair with technical services in Ankara
Terzioğlu, Nazlı Gökçe; Doğan, Çağla; Department of Industrial Design (2013)
Growing environmental issues from global climate change, contamination and depletion of renewable and non-renewable resources to waste disposal have been resulted from unsustainable production and consumption patterns. Most of the mass-produced products are designed and produced for short lifespans without considering environmental and social effects. Since small kitchen appliances are lower priced compared to other household appliances, when a part of the product is broken, the whole product is disposed of...
Is there a causal effect between agricultural production and carbon dioxide emissions in Ghana?
Owusu, Phebe Asantewaa; Asumadu-Sarkodie, Samuel (2017-03-01)
According to FAO, "agricultural sectors are particularly exposed to the effects of climate change and increases climate variability". As a result, the study makes an attempt to answer the question: Is there a causal effect between agricultural production and carbon dioxide emissions in Ghana? By employing a time series data spanning from 1960 to 2015 using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag method. There was evidence of a long-run equilibrium relationship running from copra production, corn production, gree...
