In this study, a new method of chaos generation is introduced. It is shown that, in general, the presented method cannot be reduced to generalized synchronization of chaotic systems. Simulations which confirm the effectiveness of the approach are illustrated. © CSP - Cambridge, UK; I&S - Florida, USA, 2014.

A systematic study of probabilistic aggregation strategies in swarm robotic systems
Soysal, Onur; Şahin, Erol; Department of Computer Engineering (2005)
In this study, a systematic analysis of probabilistic aggregation strategies in swarm robotic systems is presented. A generic aggregation behavior is proposed as a combination of four basic behaviors: obstacle avoidance, approach, repel, and wait. The latter three basic behaviors are combined using a three-state finite state machine with two probabilistic transitions among them. Two different metrics were used to compare performance of strategies. Through systematic experiments, how the aggregation performa...
A classification system for the problem of protein subcellular localization
Alay, Gökçen; Atalay, Mehmet Volkan; Department of Computer Engineering (2007)
The focus of this study is on predicting the subcellular localization of a protein. Subcellular localization information is important for protein function annotation which is a fundamental problem in computational biology. For this problem, a classification system is built that has two main parts: a predictor that is based on a feature mapping technique to extract biologically meaningful information from protein sequences and a client/server architecture for searching and predicting subcellular localization...
A new reactive method for processing web usage data
Bayır, Murat Ali; Toroslu, İsmail Hakkı; Department of Computer Engineering (2006)
In this thesis, a new reactive session reconstruction method 'Smart-SRA' is introduced. Web usage mining is a type of web mining, which exploits data mining techniques to discover valuable information from navigations of Web users. As in classical data mining, data processing and pattern discovery are the main issues in web usage mining. The first phase of the web usage mining is the data processing phase including session reconstruction. Session reconstruction is the most important task of web usage mining...
A Distributed Online Curriculum and Courseware Development Model
ONAY DURDU, PINAR; Yalabik, Nese; Çağıltay, Kürşat (2009-01-01)
A distributed online curriculum and courseware development model (DONC(2)) is developed and tested in this study. Courseware development teams which may work in different institutions who need to develop high quality, reduced cost, on time products will be the users of DONC(2). The related features from the disciplines of instructional design and software engineering were combined. The research is conducted as a collective case study, including four cases with distinctive characteristics to reveal the sever...
A geographic information systems tool development for geostatistical analysis of endangered endemic vascular plants of Turkey
Demirci, Barbaros; Akyürek, Sevda Zuhal; Department of Information Systems (2005)
Modern information systems strive to provide effective use of resources. Supplied with analysis tools, geographical information systems (GIS) can serve its stakeholders with minimal requirements. In this study, GIS capabilities were employed for Turkish Flora. Data related with the threatened plants that are indigenous to Turkey were gathered from the relevant literature and reshaped into a dataset in which spatial locations were represented in a geographically referenced format. Afterwards, this output was...
