Risk analysis of the government domestic debt stock in Turkey: cost-at-risk approach
Gürcihan, H. Burcu; Gaygısız Lajunen, Esma; Department of Economics (2004)
In this study, stochastic simulation based risk analysis is applied to the government domestic debt stock in Turkey with the motivation to identify the cost and risk characteristics of alternative debt financing strategies. Future path of interest rates is simulated by using the yield curve forecasting framework in Diebold and Li (2002), which is founded on the Nelson-Siegel yield curve model. Yield curve simulation is based on the estimated term structure of interest rates for the period June 2001-July 200...
Risk assessment of international construction projects using the analytic network process
Bu-Qammaz, Amani Suliman; Dikmen Toker, İrem; Birgönül, Mustafa Talat (Canadian Science Publishing, 2009-07-01)
In this study, an analytic network process (ANP), which can handle the interrelations between risk related factors, is proposed as a reliable technique for measuring the level of risk associated with international construction projects. Within this context, ANP is used to derive the relative priorities of risk factors as an input to a decision support tool, which can be utilized during bidding decisions. The decision support tool may help a decision maker to estimate the level of risk so that alternative pr...
Risk assessment of international construction projects using the analytic network process
Bu-Qammaz, Amani Suliman; Birgönül, Mustafa Talat; Department of Civil Engineering (2007)
This thesis offers a comprehensive risk assessment methodology that provides a decision support tool, directed for Turkish construction organizations, which can be utilized through the bidding decisions for international construction projects. Within this context the analytic network process technique is implemented to develop a risk assessment model, which is used to derive the relative priorities of the risk factors associated with international construction projects. The findings of the risk assessment m...
Risk Transmission from Oil and Natural Gas Futures to Emerging Market Mutual Funds
Ewing, Bradley T.; Gormus, Alper; Soytaş, Uğur (2018-01-01)
This study evaluates the impacts of energy markets on emerging market mutual funds (EMMFs). In particular, we investigate the volatility transmission between these funds and the oil and natural gas prices. The findings suggest significant risk spillover from the energy markets to EMMFs. Furthermore, we find a large number of EMMFs' risk transmitting to oil prices and almost all of the EMMFs' risk transmitting to natural gas prices. By dividing the sample into two (before and after 2008), we find the EMMFs' ...
